Hmmio, just to go along with the history lesson, there's two books, actually there's alot, but two I especially liked, on Afghanistan, that might interest some of you.
The first is called 'Searching for Saleem' By Farooka Gauhari Its about life in Afghanistan before the Soviet invasion, and during the invasion, from the view of a highly educated woman that lived through those times.
The second, 'An Unexpected Light' by Jason Elliot is just amazing, thats the only word I can think of to describe it, its written so beautifully, its about the experiences of a british journalist who traveled to Afghanistan during the soviet invastion, and then again during the civil war. Its a wonderful read.
They're both really good books if you want to get a feel for the Afghan people, what it was like for them during those times, and just the land itself.

Especially tajik dont worry, from my experience they will kiss pukhtun ass then give blowjb to uzbek and their mordagal leaderovs. All northern Alliance kooskaash will indeed taste dirt.
Khoon-e-Shaheed, Shah Jahan, I tried to check with a friend of mine who is a Sunni born in Tehran about the mosques issue.
As he left Tehran whilst still a baby when the 1979 Revolution happened, he's not quite sure of it's true or not. He says he'll ask his father about it later. However, he said he'd be surprised if it's true that there are no Sunni mosques in Tehran, because he says there is an extremely large Sunni community in Tehran.
What he does say is that his grandfather, who was the leader of the Naqshbandi Sufi Tariqa in Iran, was forced to flee Iran following the Revolution as Khomeini's people began to crack down on the country's leading Sunni clerics, who included my friend's grandfather.

What would you have done if you were in his place. In times of war, when the brutal enemy is using carpet-bombs, every able-bodies man has to retreat. This is strategy. You don't stick around to get killed.
I am surprised, a moderator on a predominantly Muslim forum asking such a question.

I'm very far from being a Omar fan, but this question is absolutely ridiculous!!
Let me ask you this. Why did General Douglas MacArthur abandon his men on the Philippines in 1942 and flee to America, leaving them to fight on for weeks with no hope of being supplied with any more ammunition or food, leading them to be captured by the Japanese and subjected to brutal imprisonment???
The answer: He fled so that he could continue the fight elsewhere. 3 years later, MacArthur led an army back to the Philippines where he crushed the Japanese.
Omar has made the same strategic trade-off that MacArthur did. By fleeing and leaving his men to defeat, MacArthur lost the battle but won the war. Omar hopes to do the same.
It was impossible for the entire force under Omar's command to escape the siege. But there was scope for a limited number to escape, those who would be most valuable to their cause (as just or unjust a cause as you may believe it to be).
Omar is probably the single most powerful strategic asset that the Taliban possessed - he is a walking, talking rallying point for those sympathetic to their cause. Losing him would make their fight a lot more difficult, as they would lose a powerful asset to their cohesiveness and recruitment efforts.

I don’t think so. He will run like the devil was after him.
By the way, you and sultan are enjoying yourselves in Pushto. Can we have the benefit of a translation so that we can also have some fun?

I agree, Khushal Khan is one of the greatest poet of southwest asia not just of pakhtuns. Thankyou for the wonderful inspiring verse. Maybe if you have more you can post some in poetry section. May Khushhal’s poetic spirit rekindle hearts in which the flames have died…
I like many of your views.

And you doing your b] anti-Islamic Jihad ** in the Image gallery ???
** You pose yourself as a Muslim there, and then make statements that are damaging to Muslims, all the while without letting people know you are a Shia !!! **
Yea, I didn’t go over to Afghanistan, never mind that. Why don’t you move over to Iran, and volunteer for the Shiite government to arrest and kill innocent Mainstream Muslims (Sunnis) for no reason other than that they are Muslims and not Shias ???
I’m sure the Shiite government and people would welcome you with open arms !!!
P.S - If someone questions you about your bigotry, blame the “Wahhabis” !!!
The difference between ** one who LOVES **the Sahaaba (R)(Companions and Friends of the Holy Prophet (S)) and the blessed Azwaaj-e-Mutahharaat (R) (Pious wives of the Holy Prophet (S)) and the ** one who ** not only ** HATES ** them, but makes ** * CURSING THEM * ** an important of his/her religion.
The difference between one who ** LOVES ** the Muslim Ummah, and the one who ** HATES ** the Muslim Ummah, and uses lies/ deception and the nastiest tricks to ** * DIVIDE * ** it on ** imaginary lines. **
Yes real ones please not imaginary ones like "Hate the ummah" and "lies" etc etc etc. FYI (at the risk of getting labelled as a liar again) I don't believe that Shias curse the sahaaba or whatever and if some of them do that is wrong.
