Option 1:

Chinese fried rice
Chicken manchuriaqn
Russian Salad

Option 2:

Chicken steak (I'll make it with some gravy)

Re: The Menu …

Charmed this sounds good :lifey:

I had a couple over for dinner this weekend .. and this was my simple sa menu:

Chicken boneless baked and put on wooden skewers with simla and onions in between every piece.
Chicken biryani
Kofta curry
Naan
and Green chutney :yummy:

It was fab , just a bit of trouble with kofta’s turning a bit too salty .. but it was manageable.

sounds delicious..

chicken biryani, how did u make those chicken skewers..did u bake them in the oven like that or then bake chicken and then put together on wooden skewers..

do u have electric or gas oven?

I was going to ask the same thing. Did you cook it and then put it on skewers.. how did you steam the veggies??

Re: The Menu ...

went to a dinner party recently and this what they served

karhi
zeera rice
baingan ka bhurta
mango chicken
karhai chicken
tandoori chicken

personally I thought it was too much variety. They had TONS of leftover food which is such a waste. I like to make 3-4 things max so everyone can enjoy the food rather than be over burdened by so many options.
typical dinner I would do something like:
butter chicken
karahi gosht
matar pulaao
daal dish
and even with that I had leftovers.

for tea I recently did:
cut fresh fruit / fruit salad
hummus
samosas
cookies and crackers to go with the tea

I find keeping a few things and simple stuff is best. Most of the folks tend to be on some sort of diet and don't like to eat a lot of oily fatty stuff.

For a regular dawat we usually serve the following menu:

Starters
-NONE

Dinner
-Chicken pulao
-Gosht karahi or Koftay
-Chicken Jalfrazi or Haleem
-Chikar Cholay
-Salad
-Dahi Bharay
-Chicken Chowmein or Burger Macaroni
-Chicken Tikka and/or Seekh kabobs
-Mint Chutney
-Naan

Dessert
Kheer or Falooda or Custard Trifle

Tea usually follows served with homemade gulab jamans (yum!)
