Here’s a little mathematical formula that might help you answer these questions:

And,

AND, look how far ass kissing will take you.

So, one can conclude with mathematical certainty that While Hard Work and Knowledge will get you close, and Attitude will get you there, it’s the Bull**** and Ass Kissing that will put you over the top.
Givin more than 100% means giving what is required (by law, by shariah, by cultural standards, etc) and then adding a little bit extra. Kind of like "baker's dozen".

lets say you are completely incompetent but have schmoozed enough tio be a director, and then u have the benefit if learning curve, some bad results, blame game, misdirection and by the time you are in the crosshair you bail, and start as director at a diff place..
plus..usually ppl who move you up because you are a good schmoozer will not toss you away unless you are making them look bad.

exactly, if something is a stepping stone you dont work as if you are going to build your life there, do what u need to do, learn what you need tolearn, make some allies, have soemthing to brag about and move on.
Thats why i say I work for myself, a corporate mercenary, someone may be paying my salary, but in the end I am workign for me, not them.
