when I said ‘make girls laugh’, I was implying (or trying to imply) that all other neccessary qualities (education, good family, caring attitude) are already there.

so here is what I mean. If you have 5 eligible bachelors in your social circle, chances are good that you will develop a crush on one of them with a good sense of humor or one that you are kind of afraid of to interact with (because of his strong personality)

That is not true. Personalities can be changed if willingness is there. I like to believe that I am not the same person that I was 14 years ago when we got married. Does it mean that she worked on changing me, no .. but as our lives evolved into a better and better married couple, we both changed over the period of time to accommodate the life into our personalities rather than influencing the life with our personalities. In fact I strongly beleive that the numebr one reasons why some marriages fail is because one or both partners refuse to change.

TLK, how can you change a personality? Your sense of humor? Your decision making patters? How can you change the way a person behaves when they're with you? Furthermore, if all of the above needs to happen...why be with someone you have to alter to your liking? How can someone else change those fundamental things that probably attracted them to each other in the first place?

Bad habits is a different story.

Smoking, drinking, bad manners, social skills, dressing habits, etc. Those things are changeable but a personality...I dont think so.

Yes, a person can correct their flaws if they want to for the better. They will become more responsible or stronger. But will they change who they are? I hope not.

I am not talking about bad habits. I am talking about the way you think, the things that you consider before making a decsion, the respect/understanding that you develop for certain emotions. You become more accommodating, more flexible, more selfless. You stop reacting to situations, you think and respond rather. Personality is not just the sense of humor (although in my case, that changed too. Rather on laughing at others, I laugh with them). No one changes over night but how many times you met an aunty or an uncle who last saw you 15 years ago and they say, aray beta tum tou baray change ho gaye ho.

If we dont change, we dont improve. We all change over the period of time.
