Exactly.
It shouldn't be Islamic Republic to start with.

Even if it has pagan origins, as long as its not being practiced with pagan intentions and the function of the rite has lost its paganism, i dont see nething wrong with that.

its easy to tackle a 'jahil' ppl but its really difficult to handle 'parhay likhay jahil'.
First thing ... as someone asked, yes we inherited basant from Hindus. Before partition there was a hindu who disgraced Hazrat Mohammad (SA). A muslim man killed him and the case was forwarded to court. After a trial muslim was sentenced to death and to celebrate this hindus flew colorful kites. From then on they used to fly kites every year in memory of that incidence.
I've also heard that basant simply originated from punjabi villages where it has always been practiced when fields are reaped.
We surely do not celebrate the hanging of the muslim. But again, don't we have a muslim identity? Allah has given us to Eids, Allah asks us to celebrate it joyfully and we celebrate eids so tastelessly. But when there are events like basant we celebrate it with bhangras and such stuff. Even the date of basant is set which would not clash Eid. Basant is never celebrated on Eid day? Why???
This is just a devilish festival where unintentionally our intension is not to obey Allah.

hey i agree with u but why u compare sab-e-rat with basant.. that is absurd. Islamic festivals should never be compared as they are the most important ones.
