Erm, no. Stats don’t remain the same. Do not compare a country like Pakistan with a country like the United States. The USA has a population of 325 million and Pakistan has a population of 193 million. The USA does have its fair share of crimes, but they do get reported a lot more, women aren’t afraid of reporting crimes like rape etc. Yes, the US justice system isn’t the best one out there, but still, in comparison to the Pakistani justice system, it is loads better. Women are more outspoken and vocal in the US. Women are more unified. In general, women are a lot more likely to not put up with misogynistic ****, like women in Pakistan have to put up with.
IN PAKISTAN they had to pass a bill for women’s rights and so many people were against it. Including many brainwashed women, who are okay with their husbands beating them etc. You do not know the realities of how a woman feels being in Pakistan - visiting or otherwise; so cut out the crappy arrogance and ignorance. My own second cousin was sexually abused by my male cousin at a wedding recently, in my own aunt’s house and the girl’s parents out of fear of shame didn’t do anything!! No reporting to the police, no nothing. Pakistan society is full of log kya kaheinge people and the majority of them do not report crimes against women & girls. OUT OF SHAME to the family.
We are not even bringing honour killings into the question and acid attacks. Women can’t marry who they love, women have to take dupatta or else are labelled loose character and whores, women have to go out with a male mahram, even in developed and so-called civilised areas of Pakistan. Women get harassed at work. Women get catcalled whether they’re wearing immodest dresses or abaya and hijabs.
People forget that in Pakistan, a woman or girl child is molested or raped, even at their own residence, by their own relative or family member. They do not even have to go out of the house for it. It has nothing to do with the woman, it has everything to do with the kind of mentality rampant in the society. This is why even little boys and young guys get raped by men in Pakistan. There has been a lot of cases in Kasur and Karachi.
My cousin is a doctor and she sees female patients every other day come in to be treated for injuries from marital rape. Crazy psychotic and sexually frustrated men who bed their wives on the first night in such a violent and disgusting manner, they injure them so badly, with rods and force, they have to be brought in to the hospital. The whole society is ****ed up and women are the end receivers of the consequences. There’s a whole lot of examples if only ignorant and blind men open up their eyes to what goes on in Pakistan.
I concur, women have a lot more rights and protections in America than Pakistan and so do children. I think a lot of women rights activist in desi cultures forget that children have a lot of rights and protection under western laws. The child abuse/corporal punishment that is considered normal in Pakistan and usually metted out by women is unacceptable in America.
I think we need to advocate against domestic violence of all forms. Pakistani shouldn’t hit women and likewise Pakistani women shouldn’t hit kids. It’s like a cycle of abuse in desi culture.
