Now I’m confused…I thought anything from the sea was permissable?? I didn’t have this same debate with the whole whale shark thread? I’ve grown up hearing shark was haram too…utter confusion…
Have you heard of “if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, its probably a duck”. This is pretty much the philosophy of Hanafi fiqh when it comes to seafood. If it look like a fish, its a fish and can be eaten (that includes whales, dolphins, sharks). If it does not look like a fish, its not allowed (shrimp, lobsters, crabs, eels and what not)
