The Greatest President

Re: The Greatest President

^ try it again PA. this time think it through.

Think equilibirum in trade finance.

Re: The Greatest President

So they spend more and are in more debt = they work more

When people spend....economy is stronger and goes up. The more people work, the economy gets more strong and goes up. So to me, this sounds like a good thing. A perpetual cycle to keep economy churning at a good pace.

Re: The Greatest President

Haroon, So you would rather see economy churning (which is not right now) then people broke and under debt. That’s a good one. I don’t see any economy ‘churning’ right now. US Average growth rate in 2004 was merely 3.2% as compare to China 9%. You might not see the outcome of record high Federal and consumer debt, but our next generation will pay the price.

Re: The Greatest President

What President ever rose to the level of historical "greatness" because he kept the dollar high and the trade deficit low? Presidents achieve greatness by facing cataclysimic events, responding with a new vision and charting a new course for the country.

I'm sure a lot of Presidents could have become "great Presidents" had events during their terms of office provided them with the stage to exhibit greatness.

Bush has been presented the cataclysmic events that permit him to respond with a vision and to chart a new course. To his credit, he has set forth the vision and the course. Whether he ultimately is recognized as a great President will depend upon the outcome which can only be judged decades lfrom now. No one becomes a great President by having a failed vision and settting a failed course.

Re: The Greatest President

You don’t sound very astute in economics. The US does not ever want to see an annualized growth rate of 9%. Our central bank would shrink the money supply, raise interest rates and take whatever policies it could to avoid such a growth rate. Our long term economic health is dependent upon a sustainable slow and steady rate of economic growth. We strive to flatten out the boom and bust cycles. 3 to 4% annual economic growth is a clear sign of a healthy and vibrant economy that is churning along nicely.

Re: The Greatest President

Too soon to tell. None of us here are fortune tellers. Based on what he has accomplished so far, not likely. If he can pull something amazing in the next 3 years, maybe. And I am strictly talking from how GWB and his policies would seem to a WASP American (not desi or muslim POV).

And Verizon uncle, can you please start using the quote button to reply to earlier posts, instead of giving post # reference. Its annoying to keep on scrolling back up to see which post you are replying to. Thanks. :)

Re: The Greatest President

Can I call it sour grapes? I don’t see any complaints from Chinese over their 9% growth rate. They seem pretty happy with that. All the concerns and worries I see are from US economists. Since I am not an expert on this so I rest my case.

Re: The Greatest President

Find me a single US economist advocating that the objective of US monetary and fiscal policy should be an annualized 9% growth rate. You will surely find as many opinions about various topics as there are economists, but I’ll wager you won’t find a one who would be so stupid as to advocate such a growth rate.

Re: The Greatest President

Are you economically deranged? No developed economy can sustain a growth rate of 9% without overheating because there is no access capacity to absorb that much wealth creation. For a 10 trillion dolar economy that means almost 1 trillion dollars of incremental growth. I think you should opena book and go sit the corner and read and not come out before I call upon you. idiot!!

Re: The Greatest President

AS,

GDP per capita USA $37,000

GDP per capita China $5,000

And by the way, Chinas urban unemployment is over 10%. Gonna take about a century for China to catch up. If you are gonna be Anti-American by throwing out statistics and economics, at least be competent at it..... Never mind the fact that if China kept expanding at that rate, CHINA would be invading the Middle East for the oil...

US growth over the past 15 years has been spectacular. Economic cycles should never be looked at one year at a time.

Re: The Greatest President

OG, who told you that us keyboard Jihadis check our figures and stats before we post them here. We cut and paste, google ,and type man. You expect us to do real research now. We have americans for that. They do it, we abuse err use it.

Have fun guys.

Re: The Greatest President

The responses that I got; I must say I was surprised. My My Such resentment and that towards "my dear leader", but its nice to see that people do realize that it aint just ME peace, it also the pockets/market economy (as PA eloquently put it) that guages the greatness. What surprised me were neutral/ -ve stance that a few took which I thought would agree with him being the greatest president.
Thanks for comments and replies.

Re: The Greatest President

You think just because, you thanked everyone and all that stuff, yours will be the last reply on this topic? :D

Nah... we can still spoil it for you. Haan, if you were a mod, you can make concluding remarks and lock the thread till perpetuity. No such luck right now.

Anyway, good luck with the Greatest President.
