The genocide of Hindus in Pakistan

Re: The genocide of Hindus in Pakistan

You're manipulating facts.

You're comparing the post-Partition non-Muslim population of united Pakistan, to the non-Muslim population of modern day Pakistan. Most of those non-Muslims lived in erstwhile East Pakistan...where there is still a sizable (albeit diminished) Hindu population today. To put all of this in perspective, according to the 1951 census:

United Pakistan: 86% Muslim, 14% others
East Pakistan: 77% Muslim, 23% others
West Pakistan: 97% Muslim, 3% others

There hasn't been any significant chance in the non-Muslim population in West Pakistan since Partition.

These laws exist in both India and Pakistan.

They originally started out as 'Evacuee Property Acts' shortly after Partition...and the names were basically changed to reflect the increased hostility between the two countries after the 65 war. The laws were basically designed to prevent the transfer of property and assets between the two countries...if the government had reason to suspect that someone was going to migrate, the laws gave them the right to seize all of that person's assets and property. Rest assured, the law was used plenty obnoxiously in India as well...so you can get off your high horse.

I don't think anyone here defends the Pakistani army's war crimes in the 71 war. But I think most Bangladeshis would take offense at your implication that Hindus were the targets as opposed to Bengali people as a whole.

I'm aware of the riots in 1992...but what happened in 89? I don't think I've ever read anything about riots in Pakistan in response to the Bhagalpur massacre in India that year...

In any case, you're right, its absolutely shameful. The fact that Indian mobs have destroyed hundreds of Muslim holy sites during riots doesn't make what happened in Pakistan any less disgusting.
