I made roti and burned the whole thing…it looked like papad instead of roti

i was soooooooo young looking back now when i first started cooking...!
me and my cuzons and sis made some thick fat chips :/ dey fried fine and everything but got told of by mama that we should not have been doing all this...i was 8-9 back then and was the oldest :/ lol
but i have been helping mama ever since....saking rotis, xyz and den when i was like 13-14 i started cooking proper good food...i rememebr making keema shimla mirch...turned out really good...! used to make soggy "phapha" rice but they are soooooooo much better now :D

when i was a student in Newfoundland i invited some of my student friends for dinner, i cooked qeema aaloo, arhar kii daal and rice...guess what happened? ... i ended up ordering pizza :)

First time I (or we) cooked, was when I moved to California some 13/14 years ago. After eating Quiznoz, Subway and McDonald for almost 8-10 days, we (3 roommates) decided that enough is enough and we should cook at home.
So we bought Shaan Haleem Mix and started cooking haleem. One of uss was neem-hakeem and had some prior knowledge of cooking (self confessed cook) so we followed his instructions and added khooob sare daaal in haleem mix. Leaving it on low heat, we started watching movie in next room only to smell something burning and when we rushed to the kitchen, Haleem was all over the oven, counter-top and floor flowing like lava. We had no idea that daaal will phoolofy and we used small pot.
Man that needed a big cleanup job. Haleem turned out to be OK better than fish sandwiches :)
13 years have passed and I am well trained now and can cook items like daal, haleem, paya, nihari, biryani, pulaoo, tandoori, kababs, fish curry etc etc
PS: now this is only for main-dishes. I have been making snacks etc since I was 14-15. Used to help mom/sister in Pakistan.

well my schedule is busy thats why she says dont waste time in cooking etc. if time then do make. if was in pakistan tou ghar pe hi banta.

First thing i cooked by myself was vegetable pulao and i didnt put in enough salt, so they were a little plain. I also spent a looong time scraping off bits of burnt chawal from the bottom and sides of the handi lol

I made chicken with yogurt salan after getting married. It turned out to be good :)

I made tiny rotis, the size of my palm, with the help of my mother when I was 5-6 years old
One was slightly burned and my father took that one cos no one else would… I was so happy cos I had put butter inside it and I though wow abbou gets to get the best one
