The Expiring Milk Problem

I have two bottles of milk in my fridge. One is nearly empty, about half a glass left. But recently expired. One is recently bought, and just opened.

Question is, what would happen if I pour the expired milk into the new bottle? Will it cause the new milk to go bad? Or will it not make a difference, since the new bottle is almost full, and has presumably quite a lot of preservatives that would make it sustain half a glass more of nearly non-preserved milk?

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

this question could be categorized under science or philosophy.

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

interesting question but why do you insist on saving that half the glass of expired milk in the first place? ~ Aastein kay Saamp ko pila do~

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

i'm pretty sure it'll go bad too.

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

pretty sure kyu femme.. khud experiment kia hai?

i would've thought that neither would go bad, but the overall expiry date of the new milk would be a little less than the expiry date of the second bottle.

skull dust.. i hate wastage

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

mix em already desi. i want to know the result too.

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

yaar bari duur chalna parta hai doodh lanay kai liay. stakes are high either way.

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

Expiry dates usually have a safety factor included in them, usually 10 - 15%. If you have stored milk properly under right temperature, CHANCES are that it will still be OK. But are willing to take your chance.

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

dont mix them ever.

p.s. i think by now u would have drunk that half a glass. :cb:

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

drink that half glass if the stakes of mixing the milk are too high.
On the other hand, what do you prefer? walk miles to fetch milk in case your experiment fails or making coupla rounds to the washroom, that is if you decide to consume it.
I am sure your tummy will be able to withstand the soon-to-expire milk, then the experiment with the new milk. So choose your pick. :p

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

Try it on a cat , let the poor soul drink it :) contact Gamma for tips from his book ' how to catch a cat '

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

so turns out all your feedback was for nought. i went to do the experiment today but the expiry date of the old milk was a little further in the past compared to when I opened the thread, and you could clearly see different layers in the milk, u know when the water seperates from the milk.

figured no amount of preservatives from the new milk can fix that.

so this question remains unresolved.

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

old expired bottle must go out to make room for the new, especially in the case of space being occupied by the bad old milk.

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

Same as we have to let old harsh memories to go , so new, fresh and good memories can take up the place !

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

so wat did u do with a disintegrated milk? :D

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

Aliyish,
memories are personal. as an insensitive, callous being perhaps people can overthrow them.
not otherwise!

best,

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

wow dushwari, what tool do you use to string words together for your posts?

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

it will ruin the taste of the new milk . and both will turn sour . all you can make out of it is yugurt otherwise will go waste .

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

Nescio.. its still in the fridge

Re: The Expiring Milk Problem

Expired milk is not safe to drink. Adding it wiht new milk may or may not ruin the new one but you would be drinking that after all

WHy such kunjoosi, why cant you throw it away
