I have been using it for many many years...sure is a lot better then waxing (no mess)and ofcourse wayyyy better then shaving.
I really suggest you get one.
It also inhibits the growth of hair after a while. Also make sure you exfoliate after using to help fight against ingrown hair

You get used to it after a while...just keep your skin taut when you use it...and you know make sure you are not using it on longer hair
Re: The Epilator!
theres a manual in the pack read it:chai:
i use braun its good and i will recommend it ![]()
Re: The Epilator!
Ive been using one for many years and like it. I like to use it on my underarms because when I wax, I have to wait till the hair grows back a certain length, but with epilator I can use it anytime and always stay bare without having to wait. I also like it for when I wax my arms, I dont always do a neat job and leave strays, so I use the epilator to clean it up afterwards. Its fast and easy and once you get used to it, doesnt hurt too much. Like Ask said, remember to exfoliate so you dont get ingrowns. Most of my friends who dont like the epilator say its because they get ingrowns, but proper exfoliation will help prevent that

Re: The Epilator!
i’ve been using epilator’s for the past 12 years. in those days they were slow and the hair had to be pretty long but they did pull the hairs out from the root, so it was as effective as waxing. the new ones are a whole different thing, so if you can bear with me i’ll explain.
mostly they work on the principle of having a tweezer like mechanism on the rotating discs. so as you move the epilator along your skin, the hairs should get caught in the tweezers and pulled out. here is the problem and the root of ingrown hairs for most people. what actually happens is that many (most) of the hairs aren’t pulled out but they are broken, usually just below the surface of the skin. this causes pretty crazy ingrown hairs and no matter how much you exfoliate they will be ingrown and cause scars. Also, the results do not last as long as waxing would as they are not being pulled from the root; probably just a little longer than shaving.
however, i still use one but in combination with waxing. i stopped completely on my legs and bikini a while back as the ingrown hairs were ruining my skin. and it also tends to leave your skin bumpy afterwards. i used to use it in between waxing but last year i bought a professional waxing kit that allows me to wax when my hair is really short, so i just shave in between. my legs are always so smooth now and i hardly ever get any ingrowns.
also, the same as midnighteyes, i always use it on my underarms. for some reason i never get ingrown hairs with the epilator here, i think the reason is because it does manage to pull the hairs from the root, i can see the bulbs on the hairs when they come out. i also used to use it on my arms all the time with no probs. although i’ve recently started the waxing/shaving combo on my arms too as waxing lasts longer. my younger sister gets ingrown hairs everywhere when she uses hers, so do my cousins.
all in all, it has it’s uses but i would never use it to replace waxing.
btw, i have used both braun and philips epilators and i recommend the philips ones.
this is an excellent forum for all things hair removal (linked straight to the epiliating one) → http://www.hairtell.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/5/page/1
Re: The Epilator!
I've heared they're allrite however not recommended if u can't stand the pain cuz they're like plucking/threading and take much longer. Waxing is much better in many ways and i havent heard too many good things abt the epilator.
At the mildest, they are the little bumps that you can see which are actually hairs grown in a curled fashion and have a little film of skin trapping them. Gentle exfoliation usually frees them and they pop up.
The worst case is when the hair just continues to grow under the skin and you get a huge spot (infected area). Which if you manage to do something about and get to the hair, you find that it’s an half an inch long or something when you pull it out. And they you have a huge lovely scar after the spot has healed.
i have a phillips one. i think its great but ingrown hairs r annoying and i have to exfoliate like crazy every time i bathe!
secondly at the top part of my arms epilaotr doesnt work very well, i dont know y im guessing it s bcs the hairs are verry thin there. and the pain in this area is soemtimes unbearable.
i luv iton my underarms, it owrks soo well there. now my hair there is so thin and comes out easily. its good on my legs but if i wait 2 long it hurts. also it hurts on my thighs and upper thigh area. but it works.
I have never owned or used it... but after reading everyone's posts, I'm tempted to buy one.
Been usin epilator for many many yrs now..legs n arms.. never had ingrown hair (ever..!)
First few times I used a Philips epilator.. later I started usin Braun Silk Epil.. Which I have 2 say its the best..! If I compare these 2.. I must say Philips was a lil bit more painful.. (might sound silly... but thas how I experienced it..)
I noticed the hair came back so much thinner.. there r parts where the hair is completely gone 4ever(coz of frequent use for yrs..) I do it once a month or 6 weeks..! I dont have 2 worry it will come back after a week or sumfin..
Ma friendz r also a really satisfied Braun Silk Epil users.. :)

you're really lucky! i hated the braun silk epil - yea it hurt less than philips but for me that's because it was just breaking nearly all the hairs! hardly pulling anything out.
i really do wonder why they produce such differing results on people. :(
