How many of you know men who have more than one wife, for whatever reason? How has that affected their children?

i know someone personally but effect on the kids .. i dunno yet ..cos they aint old enuf to understand why their dad has two mummies ..
mayb a lil later on when they grow .. they ll know the sittuation and come to terms ..
personally i dunt think their shudnt be an effect on the kids ... cos usually the kids take / go on what the father does or says ..and if the kids are sane . they usally shud understand as to why they have two mummies .. and for the right reasons ofcorse and not that their pops had a fling with someone and now they gonna get married and become their mommy .. this shudnt be the case ..and shud be genuine majboori reasons .. or if the father can fulfill all the conditions of having a second 3rd or 4th wife in Islam ..

But fbi, when we were kids and even now, we are so possessive about our parents… and now my kids don’t like it if I say I like such and such actor or singer… they’re like, but mommy, dad is the best

A very well known Shia Zakir in Pakistan had three wives. One wife lived right across from our home. I was friend to his kids with that wife. They had table tennis in their home and they taught me how to play table tennis. They were normal kids in all respect. Well mannered , well behaved. Well groomed. One of the kids is now a big name Shia scholar .

Ya I think that is key
If you have to co-wives (is that the proper term?) and they HATE each other, this will obviously effect the children, whether or not the wives live in the same house or not. And if the hate is manifest in other ways (like talking bad about each other in front of the kids), this could also effect the kids. And if the wives are not only angry but hurt and sad as well -again, this will effect the kids, to see their mom in such a state. On the flip side, if somehow the co-wives get along well with other, then this could help create a more pleasant atmosphere in the home and will be better for the children. And also the behaviour of the father would play an important role too. If he is openly favouring one wife or the kids from one wife, then it will have an effect on the other wife and kids

I have two grandmas (nanis) and I think my mother and all the khalas and mamoos turned alright ( in the sense of a family). They all get along pretty well and I have never witnessed any animosity between the two nanis or their kids.

i believe that wether a child has two mothers, one father. or two fathers, or two mothers (in the case of homosexual couples) they will be 100% fine and healthy as long as they are nurtured in a such away. i know a lesbian couple who are raising a daughter together. this daughter is amazingly intelligent, witty, and so sweet. she is well behaved and scores the highest in her classes. a lot of people think that children can only be raised by a nuclear family of man and woman but that is simply narrow minded and not the case.

Thats a whole other discussion! The issue here isnt about two mothers in the sense of lesbians, but in the sense of a man marrying two women at the same time (polygyny)
