i wanted to ask one more question to the ppl abit of twist to this thread. CB u can create another thread for my question if u want to..

do you enjoy the western style of dawat more? where everything is placed at the table and u can serve urself.
or do you enjoy the sunnah way? where we put the ‘dastarkhuwan’ on the floor with all the dishes etc?

i was thinking to adopt a sunnah way of eating nechey beth k ..but does it look like i m from last century?

Personally I dislike the western way of hospitality .. I have been to western parties and unless its a serve yourself kind of gathering, I have never really enjoyed the meal. Coz then you are bound to finish what is in your plate and your choice really is very limited …

On the other hand, our Sunnah way of presenting food to guests encourages individual attention to the guests .. what ever dish they like and however much they like , they can enjoy it ..

About sitting on the floor .. honestly I tried it a few times, but found it really hard with guests .. though I personally dont mind if someone has the floor setting .. infact I think I kind of enjoy that more ..when there are huge gatherings then you cant place anyone at the table anyways … but when there are small family dawats .. Table is the most comfortable option coz everyone is dressed up such for example, it can be hard for men to sit on the floor in trousers .. similarly for women in sari’s or kaam wala dresses ec
