I think its the fact that Pakistanis are caught in the middle
Some are fair skinned enough to be white and some are dark enough to be black...
But overall, I prefer light skinned girls to dark ones because lets be honest
The Majority of Black actressess working today in Hollywood are all light skinned
Same deal with India. Either they have to be a complete sex pot like Bipasha Basu or otherwise they are all light skinned
I think its just human nature...A landscape covered with Snow looks a lot more appealing than a landscape covered with soot or coal
Also the fact that Black or Dark Scenery is usually considered Evil and white and fair is kind, loving and good.
Its just the fact of life.
I am Personally I am greatful that I am light skinned

There's nothing wrong with the grandfathers reference to the child being "fair". He has his preference and was happy that the child was lighter in color. It's no different than someone saying "I'm so glad the child has the father or mother's eye color, or hair color". It's just a preference, and everyone has their own.

beauti doesnot depend on color n color will be of my least of preferences if i have to choose my life partner.
Being of from asian origin means that i,m not white n really i think its just inferiority complex if u feel that they r superior because of that.
character of a person is very importent n being evil/good does not depend on the color but it depends on a person,s actions.

There's plenty of girls at my school (Pakistani and English) who were lightish colored and I didn't normally give them a second glance but everytime I saw them after summer holidays after they get back from Pakistan or Spain or some other holiday destination I couldn't keep my eyes off them, lol, these are proper tans I'm talking about, the yucky fake orange tans are ugly.
right on! true for boys as much as for girls!!! there is no way a person who is been sitting in the sun is not all hte more hotter for it. I thin only ppl in thier sixties stil like the really really icky gross makes me wanna throw up pale skin! but i know really old desi women..and u cant change them so u are kinda whatever about it..but they will look at some one fat and pink and go isnt she pretty...and i am like no!!!!...uh hungh..sure!
but tru! Tans are def. no doubt! Hot! browns the new black...as far as skin color is concerned.
although i have to say white brown green...our ppl dont take care of thier skin (i am guilty too) i mean skin should not be dry nor should it be greesy..it needs to be healthy glowy...which comes from vitamins (specially E) green stuff and water...all of which we generally tend to ignore in the desi community.

the only reason that i can make out of such kind of situations is INSAAN KABHI KISI HAAL ME KHUSH NAHI REH SAKTA...those who have fair skins would do every possible thing available to get a tanned and "healthy" look whereas us desis would strive to become as white as we could be to lo0k "beautiful", not feel beautiful, for others...but you know, upto a little extent, your uncle could be right beacuse i have a few blo0dy jerks in my own family who have refused to marry a girl just because she was KAALI which, offcourse, isn't required by them and they want a gori chitti larki to get married with...for this very reason, girls and girls' parents have complex that the girls who are not "snowhites" would have hindrances in their marriage and might end up being unmarried for all their lives.
One of the many pathetic sides of us Pakistanis/Desis.
