When you cook arhar (toor) ki daal and chawal and aloo ke kababs for dinner and your husband asks you to make hari chutney, is it because

  • that’s truly a great condiment to go with the above
  • that your daal sucks so he needs the chutney for the flavor

My mother doesn’t like this daal for some reason :smiley: … who knows he is avoiding this daal for same reason & want chutney as a substitute …

No, it sucks only if he asks for ketchup. That’s the king of condiments when it comes to masking flavors. If even ketchup doesn’t help, yikes. So, it must be the first reason..hopefully.

Green chutney would just ruin arhar ki khatti daal for me! It’s a greattt condiment with aalo tikkis though!

we don’t make khatti daals. However, we are huge on hari chutney with daal.

We also had daal with zeeray walay chawal last night :cb:

I lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve my mom’s arhar ki daal.

She makes it with this khatti salad and baghar wala raita on the side.

Someone was talking about khatti daal, so my response was a general daal response. :slight_smile:
