The Corrupt government of Pakistan...

it is pretty sad yo.. i thought at this time.. the govt would be more stable and workin harder.. bt it really shows how selfish our govt is..

the presidents releif funds.. HAHA.. wat a joke.. money goin straight into the bak pocket.. whil the mushy and his counterpart keep appealing for more aid.. WAT U MEAN MORE AID?? aid to fill the bank balances of the riches.. and the ministers??

i mean forgods sake.. this is secound week from the earthquake.. and still no aid cumin to the ppl.. i mean where is all those millions going???

u know.. i was a great supporter of mushy bhai.. bt this was very sad.. i really beleived in our arm.. bt now.. i guess the ppl who run the army are just sum selfish ppl.. they are exactly the same as the politicians.. once they leave their seat.. their son or son-in-law takes dat seat.. they dont actually go and fight themselves in the war.. yet they get all the benefits.. and the poor average person who fights.. gets peaice of ****..

i think there needs to be great protests around pakistan to bring the govt and army.. and bring a new revolutions..

THIS IS SOOO FUKD UP!!!

man.. duno wat to do.. if ppl can be united to raise funds. y cant they be united to chuck all these politicians the army out in the rubbish.. start new..

may Allah help pakistan..

Allah hafiz

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan...

We never expected anything special from this govt. The more time Mush/Army spends in power, the more people realize how little he cares for the people.

He has been helped by the 'war on terror', but apart from a crazy Mullah, anybody would have supported the US. Shame, he could do so much.

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan...

While the Muslims in Kashmir try to dig out their loved ones with their bare hands, the disturbing evidence is that the Pakistani army seemingly has all the resources including the helicopters and money needed to continue waging a war on it's own Muslim people in Wazirstan and the surrounding territories at the behest of Bush in the so called "War on Terror".

Indeed the Pakistani government has made no announcement about ending this campaign and using these resources in the earthquake relief effort. This clearly shows where the Musharraf regime's priorities really lie, as a faithful servant in the hands of their foreign master Bush, while ignoring the agony of his own people.

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan…

Oppurtunity costs. Army can pull out of Waziristan, and goto Kashmir, but that $1billion aid and much of that heavy machinery sent by U.S (for earthquake), may be taken away. Not to mention, variety of other things Pakistan is recieving for free from America. Sure, the army can pull out of Waziristan, but it will hurt us even more in the longrun politically and economically, and even more lives will be at risk.

By the way, Pakistani Army doesn’t have very many heavylift helicopters.
PA is using more than 25% of its Mi-17 fleet for rescue operations, in the earthquake affected areas. You have to understand that the military cannot simply just abandon all of its posts and goto the earthquake-affected areas. Doing this would put the security of the whole nation at risk.

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan…

kewn bhai? why were you supporter of Mushy? just because he had thrown out one bad government? or because he vouched to recover stolen money using “ehtesaab”? Our public (like yourself) will never learn, every new government is so well greeted with optimism that anyone who comes into power is looked at “sincere”, “honest” and “hardworking” leader. Believe me, we won’t be getting a good leader anytime soon. They are all crap, greedy dogs who will run for smallest of bone shown to them. We should be thankful to Allah swt and to some extent to these looters that they don’t empty national exchequer completely otherwise we’ll endup like Brazil, Argentina etc.

We can still hope that there will come some good out of this earthquake and pray to Allah that He provides guidance to all of us and we get one good leader.

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan…

God won’t help a nation unless the nation tried to help itself.
Majority of Pakistanis praise Busharraf despite of him being a military dictator who broke the supreme law of the land and toppled a democratically elected government to seize the power. How do you expect God to help such nation that supports a military mafia to rule their country?

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan…

Losers at it again. He clearly stated in his last speech that they have NOT spent any money collected by president’s relief fund and the whole amount will be spent on the rehabilition process (i.e building new houses). Seriously, the losers should stop poiting fingers at the government like Hijras, what have you guys done so far??? Losers always look for opportunities to blast the government and this time they have chosen “earthquake” as a weapon…What a SHAME!!!

Around 100000 people are dead and more than that injured plus 3.5 million people homeless???Can you even imagine how much is required to build shelters for affected people??? In your opinion, Musharraf has ignored them all and filled his bank account??? Typical load of crap from the arm chair critics:mad: .
Most of you will $hit in your pants if you had to deal with such disaster, Shame on you opportunists.

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan...

It's true that some people still need help and government has failed to reach them but if you think it is being done delibrately because Musharraf is busy filling his own pocket then either he is sick or you guys need to get your heads out of your backsides.

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan...

While there is a necessary need for introspection on what has been done for the earthquake by self it is very essential that we dont forget that most of the posters here have donated their bit to some charity who are working for the rehabilation of the people in the earthquake hit areas. It is not practical for everybody to jump the bandwagon and go to the quake hit areas to provide relief.
It is the duty of the government to ensure that proper relief measures reach the needy at the appropriate time. Criticism for critisicm's sake would not be appreciated but genuine grievances need to be redressed by the govt/army

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan…

mysterious guy, no one is claiming that President will keep all 100% of the funds collected… 10 years later if you can come back and tell me that 80% of funds reached the victims of earthquake I will never criticize our government. Now you better start gahtering the funds information how it is being spent. By the way, did you read the article in which many local and foreign rescue team volunteers expressed their frustration and anger at how our army rescue team carried out its operation at Margalla Towers?

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan…

Very well said. :clapping: :k:

What amazes me the most is that nobody really seems to be bothered by the fact that shop owners from major cities around Pakistan have fled to the disaster zone to steal supplies and sell them at grossly inflated prices back at their stores. Kudos to these shameful civilians, they are doing a great job for Pakistan and the victims of the earthquake by blatantly stealing supplies and have even been caught and confronted on camera … if you don’t think the entire world is watching what these despicable people are doing at time of catastrophe, you are wrong! But hey, Musharraf and his government are more imporant … they are bad, bad people, and the army is just terrible too, sitting around doing nothing while other government goons are pocketing every penny that comes in and will be vacationing in the caribbean soon enough, haina?

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan…

Yes, completely agree with you. Thanks for your post.

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan...

Most likley at one time or another we have all thought that if I was the president of Pakistan or had some kind of authority I would this and that but the truth is that it never is that easy. Many factors have to be considered when ruling a nation. I am not much of a Mush fan but I have to give to him that he is one smart cookie. And Pakistan is doing much better than it would have under Bhuttos or Nawaz Sharif. Infact other than the long gone Liaqat Ali Khan I can think of anyone better since.

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan...

Mehnaz, I agree with you that there are (morally) corrupt "businessmen" as well who inflated prices of kafan, blankets, warm clothing as they saw the opportunity of extorting extra money and they should be condemned too. There was an article about that and if you can find that thread, you will see that they were condemned too :) .

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan...

I saw that thread Captain1, but in half the forums I'm going into, be it Shor Shoroba, here or General, it's Musharraf, Musharraf, Musharraf. Give the guy a chance! It's not easy to manage such a huge scale devastation and organize relief efforts where most of the roads are still destroyed, there are heavy rain storms and people are still cut off with no contact at all. These are not easy conditions for anybody to work in. Not even aid organizations that have flocked to the region, not even have they been able to do much other than hand out basics and that is due to the conditions and extent of the devastation.

Everybody wants people to be rescued NOW. Everybody wants to see results IMMEDIATELY. What people don't want to accept or fail to realise is that it is going to take a LOT of time to reach everybody high up in the mountains and get food into their mouths. It's not like the government is doing nothing, sitting idly by and just watching.

Let me just make it clear once again that I know how disgusting the Pakistani government has been in the past, but right now, they are doing a commendable job and we should support them.

Musharraf has already outlined that he's going to be working with the Japanese on building various housing schemes so that the next time there is an earthquake, they are more prepared and the homes will be able to handle the effects of the quake. Earlier this week, 100,000 tents were already on their way after arriving from America, on route from Karachi while heavy machinery/equipment was also being sent to the disaster zone from Karachi.

Don't knock the government at THIS moment in time. If in a month from now nothing has been done, then of course there should be uproar. It has just been a week and a half since the earthquake happened. How many after shocks have there been that have stopped the relief efforts temporarily? How many rain storms/bad weather/hail have there been to temporarily halt everything? How many soldiers have died trying to save others?

We need to keep all of this in mind before blinding criticizing the government for failing to do anything. It's not like they knew an earthquake was coming. It's not like they have just been sitting comfortably in their homes sipping chai and watching it all unfold on television like the rest of us.

Right now, Pakistan needs OUR SUPPORT. If you want to knock the government for other things, by all means, go ahead ... but if anybody criticizes their efforts right, I will comment. :p

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan...

such threads were expected as many people dont believe on government and they give their donations to edhi and some other organisations...
although i think musharaf will spend all the money sincerely and he will work fast beac of some extremely sensitive reasons

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan...

I am not blaming government for "delay" or "aid not received by many", that is clearly understandable to me as the devastation is vast and terrain is challenged.

My concern is that President Relief Fund will not be utilised the way we all think/hope it will, thats why I have donated to private organizations.

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan…

True, but we know there are greedy, evil people who will take advantage of these things.

The point is there are villages that have been reached and helped by NGO’s, and even the militants, with the Army nowhere to be seen.

So they rightfully say, when these people can reach so far and help, why is the 500,000 Army, with a multi-billion budget that bankrupts the country not able to do the same? A fair point I believe

Re: The Corrupt government of Pakistan...
