Jesse didn't go in with the same confidence that he exhibited in his last match.. he was hesitant, and quite concerned about the cut he had received in his earlier fight.
Sergio was extremely confident and knew he'd win.. Although Jesse managed to land a few good ones and he does hit very hard... did shake Sergio up, but eventualy it was Sergio who landed the most punches and scored a points victory.

It was a fantastic fight to end a fantastic season.
Even the 3rd place fight was great.
It's too bad NBC hasn't picked this up for next season. I liked how the finale telecasted live but they really needed to treat the event as a normal televised boxing match, including real pbp and less Sly. When was the last time a boxing match was on live primetime on a major network?

an exciting finale..
alfonso true to form, beat a more formidable Jesse by outboxing him.. the kid moves like a pro.. and i like his style.. he really boxes, doesn't just throw wild punches like Jesse or keep waiting for an opening for a hook.. that's all Jesse is about..
well earned for the undefeated Sergio.. again .. outclassed Peter.. all he did was just push him around .. didn't throw punches..
hope there's a season two.

man I was too lazy to post this b4 but about 3 weeks ago I went to a board and on it about a week or 2 b4 it was posted that NBC by mistake leaked that they wanted sergio and manfreto in final and they made it to final, very interesting I say

since there were like 500-1000 attendees to each fight, it would have been really difficult keeping a lid on the results.. i stumbled on a site (thankfully very late in the competition) which gave out the results of all the matches.. i only spoilt my Sergio and Jesse match..
I wish they'd have given more coverage to the other fights and made it like a two hour finale.. this is one show that deserved it and had the material for it.. not that stupid America Idol waste of time..

The Contender lost ALL credibility to me whatsoever. They screwed up big time on TWO fights.

Rematch.. that’s what i wrote right?
Started almost an hour late cuz of the game.. but worth the wait.. Alfonso outclassed his unknown opponent.. referee stopped the fight.. although i don’t think it should’ve been stopped right there.. the other guy was just resting and could’ve taken more beating.. but it was definitely going Alfoso’s way anyway.
Jessie vs Anthony looked like going Anthony’s way cuz of his dominance in the ring, but the judges saw otherwise and awarded the fight to Jesse..
Sergio vs Peter was well fought, it was clear Peter had worked real hard the last four months and was ready for the rematch.. Sergio looked the same.. neither better or worse.. but it was enough .. he showed his resilience when he fought 7 rounds after a first round cut that reopened the wound he suffered at Peter’s hands in their last fight..
Some people disagree with the split decision awarded to Sergio, Peter one of them of course but other than a very good first round in which he took Sergio by surprise and inflicted that cut, there wasn’t much that stopped Sergio from pounding Peter anywhere he wanted.. It was a well deserved victory and thankfully the referee didnt’ stop a profusely bloody Sergio from goind the distance.
