I wonder to what extent the melodramatic folklore primarily established or heavily influenced by men has conditioned women to act overly emotional on their rukhsati.

I think melodramatic folklore is not only contributory behind emotional scenes at the time of Rukhsati. Rukhsati scenes are also created in families, who are otherwise not following folklore in form of poetry and tappay. Example being conservative religious families.
