Main teri bahon ke jhule mein pali babul
Jaa rahi hoon chodke teri gali babul
Khoobsurat yeh zamaney yaad ayenge
Chaah ke bhi hum tumhe na bhool payenge

Waris Shah, who attracted Amarta Pritam in writing her famous poem at the time of partition ‘Aj aakhan Waris Shah nu’, was not married.

Waris Shah: the immortal voice of the people! ? Part 1 - DAWN.COM

Shah Latif was married, but had no children and his wife died within few years of their marriage.

In case of both these legendary poets, the feelings about females (term it feminism) came through their love ladies. In case of Waris Shah, it was Bhagbhari and in case of Shah Latif, that was a Mughal lady who afterwards became his wife after clashes and tussles.

I wonder to what extent the melodramatic folklore primarily established or heavily influenced by men has conditioned women to act overly emotional on their rukhsati.

Re: The concept of Babul / mayka in Europe and America?

I think melodramatic folklore is not only contributory behind emotional scenes at the time of Rukhsati. Rukhsati scenes are also created in families, who are otherwise not following folklore in form of poetry and tappay. Example being conservative religious families.
