A 7 Star Hotel in Pakistan !
All I can say is wow! It will be a different kind of world in Pakistan.
I’ve heard they paid in Arabs just for the location.

well you heard right. The land was sold for 2 arabs. My father was in the project consultancy team for atkins (the builders) and I saw all designs, blue prints and projected architecture. And It is certainly gonna create waves all over the region once it is completed. They have built a miniature model building resembling the original proposed one. And it looks fantastic :k:

I don't want to sound negative, but since the majority of Pakistanis find it hard to feed their families and themselves, this really doesn't fit in well.

and I fully support them, no matter if they feel like useless now. With time everyone will realise that these buildings were built with purpose and at a very right time.

Yeah, I have been readin up on this for a while... Its certainly among the most beautiful structures coming up in Pak. The Sheik Zayed center in Lahore is also very beautiful aswell as twin towers coming up in Karachi.
www.urbanpk.com has a very good update on this project along with other projects in Pakistan...

i dont like it for several reasons:
one, its location will make it a security hazard. a person with a shoulder-mounted weapon inside the building could easily target any vehicle on the faisal-quaid ave interchange (carries a high volume).
two, as a safety issue: isb lies near an active earthquake fault line and previously cda wouldnt allow construction of tall buildings, although they have become lineant lately.
three, come on, isb was known for its relaxed, laidback lifestyle. whats with these 6 lane highways, flashy buildings, underpasses and what not. a person who hasnt been to the city for a good 10 yrs (like myself) wouldnt recognize it anymore.

or get rid of all buildings in San Francisco due to earthquakes
Pakistan did not have a 7 star world class hotel and now it does.

The Tower is planned to be located at the Clifton shoreline. When completed it would be the tallest building in Pakistan and the second tallest building in the world, the first being Burj Dubai.*

although this article is a little dated some ofthe development in Korea will make it lower on the scale but it wills till be in top 10.

^ they havent even started to lay the foundation down for KPT... its just another promise that is unlikely to materalize. i am not too optimistic bout it.
