The case of the missing wife.

So there’s this family here in the US, not local. Uncle, Aunty, Son and their new bahu of 6 months, imported from India, no family of hers lives here. Last week, she did not come home from work. The police was promptly notified.

3 days ago, they received a hand delivered note [no stamp] in their mailbox from her saying she’s safe but she’s run away. The note was in her handwriting. She took her jewelry and a very few other belongings…just enough to fit in a small duffle bag…that’s all that is missing from home. She also said that she wants a divorce.

No one knows where she is and now with the note, the police are not suspecting foul play. Looks like she actually wanted out.

Very interesting, no?

Re: The case of the missing wife.

the runaway bride. :hmmm:

Re: The case of the missing wife.

Either she was being abused/mistreated...or had someone on the side. Either way...tis sad.

Re: The case of the missing wife.

I wonder where she has run away to?

Maybe there was domestic abuse which pushed her away?

Re: The case of the missing wife.

Niki you live in very interesting world. Never a dull moment.
So how did Police verify that it was her handwriting and her note ? :hmmm:
They still have the obligation to find her and verify the story. What if she was murdered and the note is a cover up. (My many years of mystery movie watching experience at work)

Re: The case of the missing wife.

She probably just didn't like him and/or liked someone else.

Why would they report her missing to the police or why would she care to leave a note if they did abuse her.

Re: The case of the missing wife.

:hmmm: you have watched lotsa mysteries like I did.

Re: The case of the missing wife.

it cud be abuse and sometimes its just that ppl marry for the GC and once they have it ....its Hasta la vista and yes girls do it too.,.. not just guys

Re: The case of the missing wife.

i know of a similar case the girl had a baby too but she didnt like her hubby n was fed up of constantly reminded by her MIL of how lucky she is n infact she belonged to a v humble background n the in laws were filthy rich ......so turns out she used to go for driving classes n met a guy n ran away ,later her inlaws got the baby n she got her divorce

Re: The case of the missing wife.

Thats so sad...

However, I dont really suspect any foul play here.

It seems like she just changed her mind.

Re: The case of the missing wife.

I'd say that maybe she felt it wasn't safe for her to express this face to face and thats why she had to run away to make it clear, I suspect there was some mistreatment in the family dynamics or couple relationship.

Re: The case of the missing wife.

may be all this is created by the inlaws and they have done something with the girl or have made her go :hmmm:

or may be she just ran away due to any reason

Re: The case of the missing wife.

interesting to note that nothing in the OP suggests bad behavior on either side, yet most of us here are ONLY jumping to the 'mistreatment' bandwagon, implicitly suspecting the husband / in-laws to be abusive in nature. Why cant we also suspect that she had loose character and ran away after an illicit affair. Keeps things balanced, no? why the sympathetic vibes for the one running away along with her valuable stuff?

Re: The case of the missing wife.

Um.

Re: The case of the missing wife.

3 out of 12! big deal! changed her mind doesn't count. majority thinks mistreatment. and i want direct blames to satisfy my biases : p

Re: The case of the missing wife.

Interesting perspectives. I'll add some more I found out in the morning.
