The bloody weekend

My 5 year old sat me down this weekend and earnestly informed me ‘Mom, i think at the weekends we have to do something special’
‘such as what?’ i say
‘I think every weekend we have to go out somewhere, like on a trip or an adventure because every Monday we have to write about what we did at the weekend so we have to do SOMETHING’

Now my questions is ’ what is it with gorays and weekends?', why can’t u just stay at home at the weekends. This brought back horrible memories of my own ‘write about your weekend’, there is only so much ‘I went to my aunty’s house’ you can write.

I informed my son to use his imagination and next Monday to write about his visit to Africa and to use the wildelife documentry he watched as his motivation.

Weekends are for doing NOTHING!NADA!

Re: The bloody weekend

You don't have to go out every weekend to do something. Just camping out in your own backyard can be something special for a five year old. How about letting your five year old play parent for a day. Let him decide what to eat and what to do for ALL of you. There is so much you can do on the weekends. Don't be a desi parent... be creative!

Re: The bloody weekend

what is rong with him doing his algebra???

Re: The bloody weekend

^typical desi. feel sorry for the kid.

Re: The bloody weekend

I agree with FG. DOn;t make it unecessarily difficult for your child. Make sure the weekend has a reasonable amount of activity whether its indoors or outdoors, so your child has a fun time writing about it instead of having to imagine stuff or lie.

Re: The bloody weekend

I think that you should be seriously worried about your son. There is something wrong with him …

… he’s saying “Mom” instead of “Mum” !!!

Re: The bloody weekend

5 year old should have t-ball or soccer games every weekend. That's the way it is.

Re: The bloody weekend

hahaha, you sound like my mother. She would make us sit in the garden and eat our fishfingers and chips so we had something new to write about in “my diary” on Monday mornings. Most entires were filled with, “today at my daddi’s house” and once i got a gold star cos we went to my cousins house instead.

Re: The bloody weekend

It's summer time in the northern hemisphere...take him out for cherry picking in a nearby farm. I used to take my nephew to such places. He would pick berries and I would pick ripen cherries.

Re: The bloody weekend

i was kidding about the algebra! they do all the soccer and play and activies, even museums but the concept of a big BIG BIG event every weekend, puh lese!

Re: The bloody weekend

I thought this thread was goign to be about Iraq and how the upcoming weekend will likely be.

Re: The bloody weekend

Afia.....thank u..that is a constructice suggestion on how to spice up his diary. Has your son discovered the joy of making u listen to 'look how far i can count till'

Re: The bloody weekend

ha, i’m ‘enjoying’ the counting…n for him its a must to come up with sums without round figures …

he’s a maths freak…his routine questions are usually: if you have 500 euros …n you have to pay 109.5 …how much will you recieve back…

i ‘enjoy’ answering wrong …coz he always knows the right answer

gosh…i never did so much maths in all my life which i’m doing these days :bummer:

Re: The bloody weekend

good on u! how old is he? and now make him count in fractions and say his 1/4 and 3/4 timestables!! see what more do u want to do in a weekend??
