The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

my sister went to get weighed today- shes on the cambridge diet, she lost 8lbs in one week!!

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

hmm i followed a similar diet for about 5 weeks and lost 8-9 kgs.. the thing is, u need to reduce the amount of carbs u have for dinner.. i cut done to none.. well just no bread/rice/potatoes.. if u want to have bread for lunch, have wholemeal or pita bread...

and cut down ur portion sizes for dinner... thats all..

its not too hard to lose weight.. trust me, if i can do it.. anyone can!

oh, and dont starve urself inbetween meals... u can eat mixed nuts or prunes or get a health bar.. its not hard at all :)

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

Sadzz, Which type of diet did you follow, Cambridge or Birmingham? Loss of 8-9 kgs in 5 weeks is great. Did you excersice as well?

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

Yeah could you tell us about your diet? In fact, start a new thread on that so we have all different types of guidelines and testimonials. Thanks!

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

Good idea Niksik!!

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

Eastern, how is your diet coming along? One more day right?

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

eastern, i was on a shake diet to begin with, I had lost the pregnancy weight pretty quickly but after that i gained a bit and so wanted to lose it, didnt think i'd lose it so quickly..

but basically it was similar to Niksik's diet.. only i just portion controlled..

like u cant eat toooo much of fruit or too much of veggies.. one serving of fruit, 2 servings or veggies.. like that :) and i cut out butter and cheese completely

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

Sadz, it would be great if you could remember your diet and put it on this forum? What type of shakes did you have? If you eliminated bread/rice/potatoes what did you have for dinner then?

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

Day 3 report: No change in the sacle today, but still 2 lbs in 3 days isn't bad at all and even motivates you. Today is day 4 so officailly eat what you want without overdoing has started. I plan to go back on the diet after 4 days and see what happens. Niksik, do you still lose around 3 lbs in 3 days when you do the diet again after 4 days? I know you didn't do another round but maybe your nurse freinds did?

Today I am invited to at a lunch, so its perfect timing to fisnish the diet today. Shall let you guys know, as the diet progresses and if I stick to it. Thanks again Niksik for letting me know about this.

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

eastern, did you really stick to tuna on its own and what not? Nothing else?

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

I don't know if they did it again, right away but one of the ladies used to do it every month. SHe wanted to lose pregnancy weight.

Say

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

how does vanilla ice cream and peanut butter help you lose weight?

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

Don’t ask how!:smack:

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

Neera, first of all in lots of diet plans even Weight Watchers etc they have diet desserts. In this diet (Birmingham) they ask you to eat only one cup or halfcup of vanilla icecream which should have 120 -220 calories . Frankly, I wouldn't have started this diet if it didn't allow me to eat dessert. Even before when I lost 10 lbs in one month I ate dessert (in moderation).I have not regained all the weight I lost before but had stopped losing!

Regarding peanut butter, The fat content is a lot in 2 tbs, but I guess I took less than that and its only those 2 tbs in one day and not in other days, so even if one did eat it, it wouldn't matter. Even the Atkins diet doesn't forbid fatty stuff a lot.

Sunset, I like canned tuna, so it wasn't a problem eating it. I stuck to the diet 90% of the time, but yes I did cheat. Both days after dinner I ate a tuna sandwich before going to bed. The last day, I ate nuts (cashews) throughout the day in addition to the diet but not a lot.

I do agree its not a healthy eating plan, but the promise of losing weight fast motivates you esp when you have to stick to it only 3 days a week. Funny thing is that I am not motivated to eat a lot today even though its my fourth day of the diet (eat normal day). It has cut back on my snacking between meals!! Also, it has fruit and vegetables in it which is good. Normally I eat veggies even for breakfast but my problem is adding a lot of junk in addition to the healthy food after dinner , which messes up my routine :-((. This diet motivate dme to wait for at least 3 days.

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

Sunset_Eyes,

for brekky I would have a lil bit of cereal (like the size of my fist) with half cup of milk (light milk)

then for morning tea, I would have a cup of chai with either a few nuts or 5 prunes or have half a health bar (u can have an apple or mango or anyone other fruit that classifies as one serve... no banana)

then for lunch, if i wanted to lose weight quickly, I'd just have some salad with lots of veggies.. or if i was hungry, id have two wholemeal toasts with some roast chicken and salad..

then for afternoon snack, id either have the rest of my health bar and another piece of fruit.. or have mixed nuts..

for dinner, i would have a serve of veggies, and a piece of chicken or fish.. (no potatoes or breads or rice)

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

u know once when i was bored and browsing I came across this diet and decided to give it a shot since the servings didn;t look too bad. I gave up at lunch time on day 2  5 saltines? Instead I had a nice little piece of buttered naan :yummy:

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

^ naan ke saath kya tha :yummy:

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

Day 4 report: Down one Pound more!!! I didn't really expect to lose anything, as it was my "normal day" of the diet, but I did!! I tried not to wolf down a lot of food yestreday. Somehow the key seems to be eating veggies at dinner than at Lunch for me like in the Birmingham diet. I did that yesterday too.

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

:hehe: sounds so much better. lol

you are right…fruits and veggies seems to be the main theme going on in this particular diet. But please be sure to add protein to it as well. Like on top of your veggies you could add a little tuna.

congrats on losing some weight…and good luck with the rest of your diet.

Re: The Birmingham Diet: 3 day program

hehe. Sara516 nothing to go with that, nothing beats the taste of warm crisp naan with some salted butter to top it.
