Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names
AY-ra is how i’d pronounce it with AY rhyming with SKY . I prefer Ayra to Aaira which looks confusing.
AR-ya is a different name altogether. I prefer the Aria spelling as it then means a long, accompanied song for a solo voice, typically one in an opera or oratorio.
Yeah, to me it’s more like the western name Ira*..
*Aria is a completely different name and Italian I think.. Dad and hubby would love the name Sophia for our first daughter iA.. I think Aria goes quite well with that..

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names
I do not know if it’s a Muslim name, but I know of Muslim parents who named their daughter Aria.
Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names
Lamis/Lamees actually means ‘soft.’ Went to school with a girl named Lamees.

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names
^ thank you…what does it mean?
Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names
It has an ok meaning- nothing awful- so it should be permissible. A good/non offensive meaning is really the only requirement for a “Muslim” name.

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names
I like the name olivia since i heard it ( not on a muslim ) but its not an Islamic name at all. Is there islamic name that sounds familar ?
Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names
It means olive tree. It’s not a negative meaning so it CAN be an Islamic name but no, it’s not a desi name with an Urdu or Arabic origin, if that’s what you meant.
What about the name do you like? That it starts in O or ends in A or the general sound of it? Some more info would help so we can suggest alternatives.

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names
Just reading through the names - someone posted Lamees. But it reminds me of kameez (maybe I’m pronouncing wrong). So that’s out.
Any other nice girl names?
Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names
Any suggestions for girl’s name first and middle with good meaning behind them?
Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names
