The Big Thread of Baby Names

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

We have a friend who named their son Noah too

Another friend named her son Shaya. Don’t know the meaning but it’s super cute!

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

A close friends son is nyle and my nephew is mikyle so those are out. Shaya is very cute- is it inspired by the actor Shia Labeouf maybe?

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

Adam, Omar

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

Also Liza for a girl, apparently it means Allah ki ata ki hoyi or given by Allah/ God.

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

Is that pronounced Ly-za or Lee-za?

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

Lee-za.

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

My sister named her newest son Noah. We all call him Nuh at home, and all desi’s call him Nuh, but on his birth certificate it’s spelt Noah. His older brother and sister call him baby Nuh/baby Noah - they understand he has two pronounciations and call him by both (they’re both young too.)

Husband loved Mikael but we are having a girl so that’s out.

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

I think if I do Noah, it’ll be Noah. I don’t like how Nuh sounds  Plus we kind of tried it with Gabriel/Jibreel and it was so annoying. It ended pretty quickly haha and he’s firmly Gabriel now.

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

Are you def having a boy SGC, or you’re just considering names?

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

Considering! We have a few girls names to choose from but only one boy name and I’m not sure hubby will like it.

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

Congrats SGC

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

Thank you

How would y’all spell Zain so it’s pronounced properly and not as Zane. Zeyn? Zein?

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

Zeyn sounds better pronunciation wise. Have you. Thought about Aaron ( Haroon). I know one desi who has a little boy called Aaron. What do you have for girls? Nadia, Natasha, Noreen are all desi- western combos. You could even do Farrah or Charmine ( close to Sharmeen).

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

We have Amani for a girl and a couple of others in the same vein. I’m really liking Zain right now for boys- hubby thought it was a girls name. Hmph.

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

Amani is really cute, my friend’s daughter is named Amani but its fairly uncommon. Maybe hubby is thinking of Zain sounding close to Zen! But it’s sweet and short, I dislike desi names that can get easily mangled by Western tongues.

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

Zaina/Zainab is nice for a girl, my sister’s bhabhi’s daughter is called that so that’s out.

Re: The Big Thread of Baby Names

Zaina is really pretty
