No doubt IK was good captain but he was lucky to have legendary players in his team and same case with Dhoni.
But on other hand when Kapil won the WC for India, no one ever thought that they can beat WI (The best team of that time led by Clive llyod). Same case is with Misbah as he is the leading the weakest team of Pakistan and big misfortune, no cricket at home.

uss team (80s) mein sirif dau legendary players they IK aur Miandad. The batting was nothing special apart from Miandad and Salim Malik. Like IK, Wasim Akram improved with time and became a better bowler and more consistent performer in the 90s. By contrast Waqar exploded from the outset but he played only a handful of tests under IK’s captaincy & mostly on the dead sub-continental tracks. So to win their first away test series in India and England and remain undefeated (under IK) against Windies in test series in the 80s was credit to both IK and the team.
