Was the person who changed the fielding culture by example. Unlike Dhoni, had confidence in his spinners. Erapalli Prasanna owes his career to Pataudi having full confidence in him. Encouraged him to flight the ball even when he got hit. Purchasing wicket - a foreign concept these days.

Agree

No doubt IK was good captain but he was lucky to have legendary players in his team and same case with Dhoni.
But on other hand when Kapil won the WC for India, no one ever thought that they can beat WI (The best team of that time led by Clive llyod). Same case is with Misbah as he is the leading the weakest team of Pakistan and big misfortune, no cricket at home.

It was a dud match, crawler of the worst. The other dud was 1999 final Pak vs Aus. The two anti-climax finals of all.

Dhoni (in limited overs cricket only) and Pataudi (never saw him play but have heard Gavaskar speak very highly of him in the past) from India.

Misbah is a defensive captain imo...andhon mein kana Raja wali baat hai

They did beat WI and got beaten by WI and Aus in group matches.
But the way the final was played, it was like playing a test match with around 3 runs per over. It was the ugliest final of any tournament (not due to Kapil's presence) but was like when this torture is going to finish. There were better matches in that tournament than the final. Same as WC 99 which was full of thrillers, until the dead final.

India was good but not the best team at that time. Their record in mid-80s is not so impressive.
