Ok I didn't read all the replies so apologizes for repetition.
There is nothing new about this. I'm going to use Canadians information here. If you open up the food guide used here in Canada. You will see the recommendations of
1. decreasing foods high in sugar
2. eat more whole grains (more fiber- hence increased time to digest and decrease in insulin spike)
3. eat 6-7 and 8 for females and males respectively (adults age 19-50)
Along with this I would still recommend a diet that is not high in fats ( you need some) but it should be lower in saturated fats - read the labels. Aim for foods with a higher content of unsaturated fats vs saturated fats.
Ok a mod can merge all my replies...sorry about the flooding
Reha, I think you should still enjoy the fruits because 1. you are getting a ton of nutrients and 2. fruits are high in fiber so it will slow down the digestion of your food therefore eliminating the spike in blood sugar/insulin.
ok i,m going to try to lose weight too…healthiest options available
will let you know if the figure is back
I also notice when I,m thinner people say “oye both kamzoor ho gayi ho”…nobody says your looking good
but when I gain weight they come right out and say both moti ho …
all lose lose situation..wish I could lose the middle tyre
@canadiandesigirl : but fruits are high in sugar. My trainer is doing a body building competition and she too has a similar diet except hers is even stricter since she's pretty much cut out all carbs and i think she gets like a fruit a day and it can only be berries. I think with a diet like this you'll probably get good results if you're disciplined and weight loss is all you're looking for. But I think it'll be hard for it to be sustainable, I mean my trainers been doing it for 4 months but she's clearly mad, haha.
A diet like this without the fruits I wouldn't be able to sustain for longer than a month. On the other hand I'm a sugar junkie, so I need some kind of fix. But I have heard of people who have tried to live without sugar and found that once they were done with the diet they didn't feel the need for it anymore. If you can do it I think you should get some good results, but as I sit here eating my once a week oatmeal chocolate chip cookie treat, a sugar free diet is far from my mind!
The thing is, there are sooooooooo many substitutions you can make in place of conventional sugar.
I am THE biggest chocolate fan and I was able to find chocolate covered wafers that are sugar free and taste reallllyyyyyy good too. There are ways to get around if you want to. It just takes some homework...you dont even need that much discipline because you're not depriving yourself.
I am not committing to it until I know I wont starve...I am more so trying to figure out what options I have if I were to do it. The thing is, because of how rampant diabetes is...sugar free options are everywhere and they are pretty good too.
Reha, please enlighten me about these substitutions. I had only heard of aspartame, sucralose and stevia which aren't really better than sugar so I just tried to cut down my amounts. How else are they making things sugar free these days? And does this affect contents of other things i.e. low fat varieties of some products inevitably have more sugar.
Yes, fruits do have a high sugar content BUT if you look at the glycemic index (the lower a food is on this index the lower the spike in blood glucose after eating the food) most fruits are in the low and moderate category. Therefore, I feel the benefits out weigh the loses in this case. Also, you said your trainer is on such a strict diet which means he/she is very motivated and doing a body building competition so he/she doesn't come into the same category as the average person.
I totally agree with the need to get a sugar fix every now and than. When we are taught counseling skills that's the one thing we talk about. We are to tell clients it is okay to have food that are not so good every now and than because a totally elimination is hard to do and will probably make the person binge on it after wards.
I guess all I am trying to say is don't eliminate a certain food group instead aim for a healthy diet with variety of foods. Work on decreasing the high fat, high sugar foods and work on portion size.
I have got one Nuskha which might sound silly in all these hi-tech food programs, which takes me away from my Paratha, Palaóo, Biryani, Zarda and Milk-made-things eating habits...
Every morning:
1) Before brushing your teeth, squeeze a fresh lemon into half-boiled water with a spoon of Honey.
2) Do not take any breakfast for atleast an hour or so...
Every Evening, Before Super and After Lunch:
1) After 2 hours of Lunch, Squeez a fresh lemon into half-boiled water and drink it
2) Do not eat anything or atleast an hour or so
Drink lots of water...
Just eat anything ( excess of everything is bad) and live happily ever after
It will do wonders with weight loss, while giving an extra glow to your skin and there would be shine in your finger and foot nails...
To gain weight,
1) Every morning, after brushing your teeth, just have glass of Milk with a spoon of Honey...

Im actually referring to Stevia and Xylitol. Both are sweeteners that can be incorporated in this diet - if you want to call it a diet.
I do think there is some truth to this whole "get rid of sugar from your diet" thing. And even if there isnt...of all the fad diets out there...this seems to be one with some sense to it so makes it worth trying.

I tried this for a week or two. I don't eat a whole lot of sugary stuff anyway, so that wasn't a problem. I cut down on carbs and increased my protein and healthy fat intake. I am not big on fruits, so there weren't many fruits in my diet (though, I am not planing on cutting them out).
It has had a temporary effect on my tummy. Let's see how long it lasts (I made a cake 2 days ago which I've been eating :p). My belly fat is stress related, both mental and physical (not eating for long periods and then chugging food down). So, I am also making my portions smaller and eating more frequently.
To help my stress, I am sleeping regularly and trying to stick to a schedule. Sleep has helped my stress 10 folds.
No work out in the routine yet. I will hopefully get on it as soon as I have the mental space to think about it and stick to it.
First of all, don't wink at me dude...that's just creepy.
Secondly, I don't wish to have a discussion with you because I don't want impress you with my intelligence and wit.
PS. and I will not be responding to anymore posts from you.

Yes, I'm quoting myself but I realized I skipped a few words :p
eat 6-7 and 8 for females and males respectively (adults age 19-50) ** servings of grain products **
