Anyone here read the book yet? He has a book out called The Belly Fat Cure and what he talks about is pretty interesting.
He doesnt focus on fat or calories. He focuses on controlling sugar in your diet…lowering insulin levels to cure belly fat. He claims you can loose anywhere between 3 - 7 pounds in one week if you focus on his plan.
Thoughts? Anyone tried it yet? He also has a Facebook page.
Havn't read the book. But have read this from the internet and some books that the connection of insulin and leptin levels and belly fat are interlinked. IN very layman terms... You see insulin is a protein hormone that is released in response to carbs in the bloodstream. While leptin is also a protein hormone but it's like a satiety hormone. It controls appetite and metabolism. Leptin hormone when released tells the brain to cease eating, that the body is full and no more fat is needed. Thus more leptin....means appetite full...less eating....
It's when you eat a lot and then insulin is released more...that's when insulin resistance starts to develop. ANd insulin resistance leads to disturbed levels of LEPTIN hormone....which in turn means that the signals to the brain are all bezerk....and thus brain doesnt get the message to stop eating. You feel hungry more..and turn to fatty foods to curb your appetite. And insulin resistance is a cause for many other diseases like PCO's and diabetes and heart diseases due to increased fat levels in blood.
So not just controlling sugar...but controlling the total amount of carbs is healthier.

That is one way to diet or control your diet. I do know someone who has been on this program and have become a self-proclaimed diabetic. They've lost 25 pounds just by controlling sugar in their diet in a very short amount of time. No strenous exercise is needed...just light activity to help tone.
The rule is 15/6...your daily intake of sugar cannot exceed more than 15 grams and your carbs cannot exceed more than 6 servings.
15 g of sugar? that sounds so difficult, an apple has about 15 g of sugar in it. It makes sense lowering your sugar levels to reduce belly fat, but IMO this is too hard to follow. It would mean you'd have to basically eat only veggies and lean proteins because carbs tend to have more natural sugars as does fruit.
Psssht stop complicating things. Who didn't know this already? A low sugar content is healthier for the human body. The following is a very popular and simple formula for healthy weight loss.
Eat plenty of proteins (1g per lb of your lean body mass) and reasonable enough carbs too
Drink buckets of water
Reduce your calorie intake by 250-500 a day to achieve a healthy weight loss of 1-2 lbs per week.
Yah carbs are killers, but you would need them if you do alot of activities; gym or otherwise.
Thats it. You need some carbs in order to keep your metabolism up but with his plan...he doesnt cut them out completely. He says to take 6 SERVINGS of carbs. A serving can be upto 20 grams I believe (Im going to double check on that one so apologies if its wrong).
Very interesting! Reha, are you trying this? How can we keep track???
I think I might give it a go. Really give it a go.

You know I went to the store today to read some labels just because I am so damn curious about this thing...especially since I met someone who did it. I dont think I would care much if I hadnt actually seen someone who lost weight on it.
Its not that bad at all...you would think its difficult to do because almost everything has some sugar in it. I brought some things today that are sugar free and they dont taste nasty at all. I bought sugar free bread that tastes just like wheat bread. Whole grain pasta. Cheese (cheese actually is amazingly not that bad contrary to popular belief). Mayo/mustard have virtually no sugar.
The ONLY drawback to this diet is that I dont get to enjoy fruits as much as I would like. They only allow blackberries or raspberries. No other fruit...so no more Korean pears which are my favorite. :(
