The banning of the message?

This is a silly controversy..especially onsidering what an excellent introduction the movie was to the life of the Prophet (pbuh)

NWFP wants ban on The Message

By Zakir Hassnain

PESHAWAR: The North West Frontier Province Assembly passed a resolution on Friday, demanding the immediate ban of English film The Message because it hurt Muslim sentiments.

The House also demanded videocassettes of the film’s Urdu version be banned and confiscated and legal action taken against those distributing the tape. Tabling the resolution, Deputy Speaker Ikramullah Shahid said a private TV channel had shown the Urdu version of the film. He said roles played by non-Muslims in the film were an affront to the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) and his companions. An immediate ban should be imposed on the film, he demanded.

Opposing the resolution, Awami National Party legislator Farah Aqil Shah said there was nothing wrong with the film, which was produced after getting permission from Saudi authorities. “The film is an inspiration to children and many people in the West and the US have converted to Islam after seeing it,” said she, adding that the film should be shown in all languages.

Pakistan Muslim League legislator Nighat Yasmeen Orakzai supported Farah and said Muslim scholars were consulted before the film was made.

Re: The banning of the message?

they should just drop a big bomb on people who think so closed minded like dat!

Re: The banning of the message?

**

Thats rubbish, Mad Mullah Allaince (MMA) was never consulted, even they were not informed that kafirs have worked in this 30 year old movie. pathetic :yuck:

**Lets burn the eyes of all muslims who have watched the movie, **

**

**Seriously, I have no hope of seeing any thing less idiotic coming from them **

Re: The banning of the message?

What's wrong with that movie? They didn't portray our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as far as I remember. (only saw it when I was little, now that you mention it, I would love to see it again)

And I personally think it's great that outsiders take a genuine interest in Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) life. They haven't told lies as far as I remember and they didn't intend to insult anybody. And I don't feel they have. It's a decent peace of work.

Re: The banning of the message?

^ Have they shown the characters of sahaba in it?

Re: The banning of the message?

They just want to assert their clout in the true pak way, and nothing else. How abt banning the porn pashto films which hurt sensibilities rather than just plain sentiments?
Notebook it's a movie on the Prophet's life, its quite obvious you can't have glowing white silhouettes for real people...the sahaba are there in the film. But it's all done in great taste and really gives you the feel of the time.

Re: The banning of the message?

the only sahabas that i recall were Hamza RA & Bilal RA

Re: The banning of the message?

saw a news bit on Geo/Ary abt this... what exactly is the issue? from what i understand, this movie is abt the life of the prophet (PBUH).... so whats the big deal?

wasn't there another movie a few years ago that showed a shadow of the prophet (PBUH) that caused a huge uproar...? does this movie also have an actor playing the prophet(PBUH)?
i don't understand what the actual issue is...???

Re: The banning of the message?

That movie is so good.

Re: The banning of the message?

The movie is extremely good. It is very professionally made and excellent presentation of early days of prophet’s life and devotion of his companion. It ends at fatah Makka (conquest of Mecca).

No one played the role of Prophet Muhammad and four khalifa -e Rashideen. Anthony Quuinns did the role of Ameer Hamza to perfection and few other sahaba are shown in the movie too, Overall it is a must watch movie. :k:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074896/

There are many other movies, made on the very same subject in muslim countries in arabic an perssian language. But Pakistani Mullahs need another 100 years to find that out

Re: The banning of the message?

could it be that the movie is going around for a while now ...... according to ur post i think i've seen this movie some 14 years back in Germany ....... please correct if i'm wrong

Re: The banning of the message?

NWFP Govt and its assembly has all the right to ban this movie.

No need for these movies to show sahaaba (RA).

A person who cleans his behind with a paper towel, drinks alcohol, curses in life, commits zana etc. etc. is acting like sahaaba (RA)......? Got my point?

Re: The banning of the message?

^^

This is the kind of mentality that has set the cyber jehadis back to the 4th century!!!

Re: The banning of the message?

LOL.....Being funny rashGuy.

What soes this have to do with Jihadi or non-Jihadi?

Few words you know and like a baby keep babbling in every post.

Re: The banning of the message?

actually the assembly does not have the right legally to ban a movie ..and the resolution was not binding as it was not passed unanimously

Re: The banning of the message?

If we say the assembly is elected than members there are elected by the people.

Since when unanimous vote is necessary to pass a legislation?

Re: The banning of the message?

If the MMA decided to rape every woman in the country, there would still be people standing up for the MMA just because they wear turbans, spit on Americans, and eat daal with their hands while dirtying their beards with the food.

Re: The banning of the message?

^Purely fictitious, hilarious and dumb comment.

Re: The banning of the message?

PCG's Even though I said your comment is fictitious but what made you even come up with the idea IF MMA decides......?

You sound so like the AntiObl! Mullah basher! ( Apologize to Anti_ if he ever disowns PCG's comment also)

Now don't get the idea that I am for MMA in every respect. Message was banned before even MMA was concieved! Thats in late 70's or early 80's I believe.
