Is this normal procedure in pak/india or is it just the dramas that make it look bad, that whenever theres a pregnant woman whose about to give birth but is facing complications, th doc will ask the HUSBAND we can only save one, bacha ya maa…im sorry, who gives the HUSBAND or anyone else the right to make that decision.??
by default here in the uk, its always the mother. is it like this elsewhere. and whats everyones perception on this.
I doubt that doctors would leave the decision solely to the husband. I don't know how doctors handle such a decision. BUT I imagine that when the doctors inform the husband of the medical situation.....they're doing it to prepare him mentally.....not so that he can decide if he wants to save his wife or let her die.
I doubt a doctor would let the mother make the decision....because she's in labor...and emotional...and that can affect her decision making skills. So, I think the informing is only to make the family aware that they may be losing the baby.
Most professional and sound-minded doctors do their best to save both mother and child. And in the event that a choice has to be made....it's the mother that is saved.
1) What if the mother has previous children? They still need their mom. Who is going to take care of them if the doctor chooses to save the baby?
2) Granted that there are exceptions to the generalization and that there might be a few husbands who care more about the baby than the mother (let's say the baby is of a desired gender). I think most husbands would choose their wives. You established a relationship with your wife...more so than with the baby you've never seen. And God-willing you can have more children with her in the future. Don't reduce her to the sole function of producing children.
