Re: the baby or the mother??

dramas like to make a big issue out of things
relax and concentrate on staying calm

Re: the baby or the mother??

I hate Indian dramas and as Gina said Dhaan Dhaan Dhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaans

Re: the baby or the mother??

Nobody answered my question yet.

if the mother is not in that condition then it should be still the mother, it's common sense.

and if you are in this situation by any chance, aur kuch karoo na karoo, DR ko zaroor maar doo

[/QUOTE]

Zaroor darut baat hain yaar Dr kee aysee thaysee! :ASA:

If you cnt understand the question properly then dont bother replying. OK?!

I was talking about what is the norm here and why is it so. I didnt ask for anyone to exhibit their "common sense".

Re: the baby or the mother??

Nadz, is your real name by any chance babra sharif or shamim aara?

Re: the baby or the mother??

lol.

if the mother is unable to decide for herself then next of kin consents to the operation/procedure

in most cases next of kin is considered husband if she is married, if not then parents brothers and sisters.

Re: the baby or the mother??

It makes sense that no such situation can exist but what about this.....

The fetus is too young to be born. It would die if it was delivered.
The mother is about to go into a coma......vegetative state.....if the fetus is not delivered.
If fetus is allowed to grow then chances of mother recovering are next to NIL.
If the mother is saved then the fetus must be delivered and therefore a death sentence written for it.

Plausible or not?
Perhaps the doctors on the site can answer the question.

lol....what a thread :D

Re: the baby or the mother??

I recall this vaguely but when I was in the labor room for my firstborn's delivery, they made me sign a living will and I think they made me put down the person's name who I wanted to make a decision for me in case I couldn't make one about my life.... not completely sure though, it was 4 years ago :)

LOL, not just saw that, ive seen it in films, remember chori chori chupke chupke where rani mukerji asks the mother to be saved, or something, and then some pak dramas too…

I need to get out more!!

In this case, i would def put my mums name down.

Re: the baby or the mother??

Nadz, I dont think a husband will ever opt to save the baby over his wife, contrary to what movies and drama show :p

Happens all the time.

If fetus is at age too young to sustain life on its own, its seen if its possible to treat mother till fetus is viable, if not abortion is carried out and mother is saved.

If fetus is old enough to have a chance to live, fetus is delivered immedately, and tranferred to intensive care.

As a general rule (there may be some exceptions), you cant save the fetus without saving the mother.

Re: the baby or the mother??

I don't know if these types of situations actually happen, but there was an incident in my family where after my aunt gave birth to her third child the doctor went up to my uncle and asked if he wants his wife to be sterilized. My uncle said yes, and my aunt was not asked, she did not even know about this. Her kid is now 3 yrs old I think and she just found out now from her husband what happened!
A lot of people seemed to think it was funny, I just think it's horrible, nobody has the right to decide what happens to anothers body, be it your own wife's.
So errr.... regarding this post my opinion is that the husbands should not even be asked. Screw them.
