The Apprentice - 2014

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

Oh ... That's good then I can agree with you ... No need to disagree. :)

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

Lord Sugar's comment on Sarah : "dont look her in the eye, Nick" was absolutely hilarious !

Phew , yesterday's boardroom firing was on full bloom , all three got fired ! I do think it was well deserved for all of them but it was shocking nonetheless !!!

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

Oh and I must mention Solomon Akhtar. What an awesome personality. Every time I see people like him , who have this easy going subtle personality with a smile on their face all the time , I realize their personalities play such an important role in them being successful as managers .

Such individuals get things done their way through a likability factor. Exactly opposite to him was Steven, who was his own worst enemy as Lord Sugar put it . Even though Steven did make sense occasionally but the way he put things across and conducted himself totally ruined him.

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

oh well , that is something very personal to him , I dont know what it has to do with his professional life. I think some elements around are trying to turn The Apprentice into Big Brother ! Media is absolutely playing that role right now. I really think they should continue to focus on the show for its USP , its business based theme. Which is what majority of the viewers enjoy and want to see, rather then the Big brother themed dirtying up of the contestants

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

This episode was wicked, the comment alan made to nick "saying don't look her in the eyes" made me bust out laughing. I'm surprised that 3 people got fired, most of the team should have got fired to be honest with you. I'm starting to notice who the weak links are, it's becoming pretty clear. This task was pretty easy, everything was handed to them on a plate yet it's amazing how most of them seem to find it so hard to do it. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

Sentry, what made you say it was an easy task? I feel it was a tough one, since it demanded a lot of creative ability to achieve the task and that is exactly where they failed , I think ..

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

How I wanted James to be the fired one ! The way he conducts himself and goes on and on and on about non significant things totally makes me cringe!

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

I found this week's task quite interesting actually. What do you guys think?

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

Making a concept wasn't hard, it's only 1 video plus another one. Not something that was going to continue forever. I could easily come up with something dumb and get someone with 10million subs to help me get 2-3k views in days. Even alone I could probably hit that just talking about everyday life. Getting 2-3kviews in 48hrs is pretty easy considering you have the help of other massive YTs helping them was a massive benefit, nobody really gets that kinda help. Plus video editing, cameras, crew, supplies all that was given to them.

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

Lol, but he did sell right? He may have been very pushy trying to get prices down but he was the only one who got things sold. Him singing children tunes on the coach was funny as lol. I thought that black chick would have got fired, maybe next episode. She's really weak and she messed up her pitch. I think it was mainly her fault, along with the one who did get fired.

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

Same, it was pretty good but again it's all handed to them. All they needed to do was go and pitch to get prices down and find customers (which was already at a coach ticket store, so it's not exactly hard). I feel like everything is handed to them, there's no real test.

They just needed to decide where they wanted to go, and the show producers got them interviews with the owners to pitch a price point. They didn't do that.
That store they were selling from, not everyone can do that. I know were that store is, it's by piccadilly circus. You and I couldn't, we don't own that shop. The show rented half of it out for the day for them or whatever. It doesn't work like that in the real world. The cost of that alone would have eaten up their profits. These tasks are unrealistic sometimes.

I could go on and on..

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

Thats a very fair point. But at the end of the day its television. I dont believe alan sugar conducts himself in that manner in reality, or else nobody would want to work with him - admittedly he is not so bad now but the first few seasons he was very stern and borderline insulting. What i will say is that the caliber of candidates has dropped noticeably this year. The Aussie is quite impressive

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

Yup you are right , they are handed many of the difficult bits in a plate and they just have to pitch.

But frankly, such controlled environment ability based tests are done to assess the specific ability of that individual. For example, if they send off people to find their own sales from scratch, it will complicate the assessment process coz then every sale will have its unique situation , some making it simple , some making it harder and that wont be fair to the participating candidates . Hence in a controlled environment when they pitch to , more of less the same the same people , that is when one gets an absolute idea of how various candidates react in the situation.

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

Ohhh dear God , Another one of those losers has been thrown out. Lauren , how I wanted to see her out of the process. The next one is going to be the other lawyer, I forgot his name.

So , is the picture getting clear for anyone? any guesses on who might be the next apprentice? Dont say Rosheen , coz she is right now the top candidate in the race. But I have yet to see her doing things independently to be graded a clear winner.

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

I think the outlook of the business idea of the final candidates will also contribute to who wins

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

Yes , Psyah. Though I greatly dislike this in the programme. On one hand they come from varied backgrounds and show their abilities in circumstances where they have to come out of their comfort zone. Yet at the end , Lord Sugar gives so much consideration to whether their projected business idea will suit him or not. Isnt it unfair? Can he not go through the entire lot of ideas in the beginning and only bring those candidates in the process , whose ideas match with his !

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

I'm glad Felipe has made it again. Go Felipe Go!

Re: The Apprentice - 2014

Peace Sister

I think they do do that ... Out of a few hundred applicants they short list based on idea then on CV ... I'm sure they also consider their drama appeal as well ... Then they use the show as a mean to root out those people who will pull their weight and drive their ideas and adapt to unfamiliar surroundings and then for final selection they will consider the best ideas again out of those remaining and give extra credit to those who showed most strength.

I liked Mark for a while but then I saw him as a person who is easily wound up ... Solomon probably has the most 'up to date' idea and one that he has demonstrated he will back up with a lot of enthusiasm ... But it would be good to get a low down on each of their ideas ... Perhaps they will do it like last time and call back the candidates to help the finalists with their ideas.

You nit the nail on the head with mark. I had him down to win the thing but he is one dimensional I think. It's gonna come down to solomon and that irish girl
