The Anti-America protests

Re: The Anti-America protests

I agree. What you have stated goes without saying. No sane person can think that the protests, the way they are, make sense. I merely pointed out the deeper issues, its not simply that idiot retards are fired up by molvies solely due to the movie, this was just an excuse for the molvi to do it.

Re: The Anti-America protests

the sad part is as if we already don't have enough on our plates to solve.

With violence and public property destruction nobody is doing our country a favour. Nor would the US or the filmmakers give a damn. There should be a proper way to convey sentiments.

That's the problem with Muslims generally all over the world and especially in Pak. Hot headed and temperamental. They can start destroying random public properties as their idea of fun, anger, celebration, protest :/

Then there is this other extreme who are like, whatever. Now this film is definitely a cause of concern and one should verbally condemn it. But that should be it.

Re: The Anti-America protests

The makers of the film are poking the bear. If the bear refuse to respond to being poked, the power of the film is gone. Didn't their mama teach them that when they were small?

Re: The Anti-America protests

They're trying to wake the Dragon once again, the Dragon that once destroyed the crusraders and reached their door steps and was about to overwhelm But they got lucky. This dragon is awoken once again and this dragon does not sleep or accept defeat. This is the sleeping dragon of Islam and once awoken it'll run throug their lands claiming what was their once again and will set the truth in its place once again.

They're afraid of it, they know the Power which Islam posses. Of Saladin, of Umar and Uthman and of the warriors willing to die for the cause of Allah. They will never be able to wipe this movement. The more they mock the stronger we will become. We shall never accept defeat, NEVER! This is the struggle, this is how we survive.

Re: The Anti-America protests

We Muslims are doing exactly what that movie producer probably wanted us to do, that is to tell the world that we are dumb headed, barbaric people.

Re: The Anti-America protests

Or maybe its just this one Egyptian Christian who hates Muslim and immigrates to the USA and uses USA's Freedom of Speech to create this video.

Re: The Anti-America protests

This in NO way justifies what the Egyptian Coptic guy has done but it's wrong to say that only Muslims are the targets of religious slurs.. Saudi textbooks teach kids that Jews are pigs etc.

It scares me to think that this baiting might become more and more common as right-wingers and others realise how easy it is to cause widespread trouble and hatred..

Re: The Anti-America protests

This whole concept of freedom of speech is messed up.

Re: The Anti-America protests

Why don't the muslims respond by making a big budget movie on their prophet which glorifies his life and teachings so that other non-muslims can learn about him instead of going on a rampage like this. Muslims are not the only target of hate-mongers. Many times the perpetrators of hate speech against other religions are muslims themselves. You just usually don't see people of other religions take the bait so easily and provide more fodder.

Re: The Anti-America protests

How so?

That would be far too rational. How dare you suggest such a thing.

Re: The Anti-America protests

^ On one hand, 'civilized' govts preach political correctness. On the other hand they allow freedom of speech. You dont see any contradiction there?

Re: The Anti-America protests

No one preaches political correctness. It's just considered common sense if you're in the public eye and trying to get votes that you don't offend anyone who could potentially vote for you.

Freedom of speech means that you can say what you want, within reason, but it might have consequences. This guy criticized the Prophet. Okay, great. So what? Did he change your mind? I doubt it. Do you think the reaction of the Muslim world did anything to help our image?

Again, why not just ignore this guy, and this story? Is he killing anyone? Is he stealing anything? Is he making you lose your faith in Islam? Probably not. So why make your faith look immature by lashing out. Shows like South Park make fun of Jews, Christians, and yes, even Muslims. Most other groups ignore what they find offensive, why can't we?

Re: The Anti-America protests

Then why terms like nigger are not allowed in public schools?

Re: The Anti-America protests

Because that's a racial slur? Especially in America with the ugly history of slavery. There's a difference between talking about the problems black people have economically and socially, without calling them niggers.

And I think the rest of my previous post is more important. Why react to this guy at all? I hardly think your reaction would be the same if he criticized Jesus or Moses.

Re: The Anti-America protests

Teachers or Students won't go to Jail for saying nigger but Teachers will get fired or Students might get suspended for saying that.

Re: The Anti-America protests

Exactly. And if a teacher overheard a student using the term in conversation, they would tell them to stop. If a student was going around getting the faces of black students and yelling nigger, slightly different reaction.

This guy's movie would have faded into obscurity if not for the Muslim world's reaction. Are we going to do this dance again when the next thing that Muslims find offensive surfaces? Because it will happen again.

Re: The Anti-America protests

What is happening is this:
The Salafis are in a power struggle with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. The Video was made and posted on YouTube in July. A Fat Salafi Cleric while being bored at work stumbled across this video while surfing YouTube in September. He decided to rile people up and undermine the current government in Egypt with this obscure video.

His calculus was that the brainless, un-educated, and jobless masses in Egyptian society who have nothing better to do will take up this call and start riots and protests against the video and blame America, Christians, the West, Jews and Israel. This will cause the Egyptian Government to shift even more to the right and harm its relations with the West and bring it line with the Salafi philosophies.

This is noting more than a manufactured controversy being used by these extremists to further their agenda and the protestors are too brainless and stupid to realize that they are being used as pawns for the Extreme Right Wing in Egypt to cement their control over the country.

And now the rumor and conspiracy mill is in full swing as the protests have spread all over the Arab and Muslim world and even in Australia where these brain-dead morons are protesting and storming the US Embassies.

All the Good will that Arabs built from the Arab Spring that they wanted freedom and democracy is gone. Now Arabs are seen as a brainless and mindless horde of barbarians.

And stay tuned. Al Qaeda will launch terrorist attacks and use this Video as reason behind it.

What a bunch of opportunistic bigots. These people are a disgrace to Islam and I find their actions more offensive than that Video.

Re: The Anti-America protests

I haven't even really read news about the reactions to it for the most part. The most I've seen is one aalim saying that the way people have reacted to it was wrong. My personal opinion is that the best way we can respond to something like this is to improve our practice of the religion.

Re: The Anti-America protests

The term political correctness was coined by wing nuts who ridiculed the attempts of Progressives to treat everyone with respect and dignity. So if one were to speak up for racial, gender or sexual orientation equality, one would be riduculed as being politically correct. Political correctness is a good thing. No connection with freedom of press.

As for other religions not being ridiculed, maybe it has something to do with the way in which they react.

Religion, spirituality is private. Not something one should do a lot of rah-rah chest- thumping.

Re: The Anti-America protests

i mostly agree with all of you that these protests are barbaric and irrational and there is a deeper agenda behind this. I agree. But, just for a minute, imagine, that your family has been slaughtered, your neighbors have been killed, the city/ town where you were born has been ravaged, countless graves without names and dry blood on walls and you are the only one alive in your family and is trying to move on with time but then, this movie come out produced by non-Muslims living in America, a country who has taken away everything you had. What would you do? Of course i can’t say that life of one senator is more important than those of your family members and i can’t say that your family was more important than that senator. Just imagine the anger of this kind of person. Would you blame him for what he is doing right now?

What i am trying to say is that the violent protests are happening only in those countries who have been affected by America in one way or another. I don’t see violent protests by Muslims in America or UK or even in Australia.

Don’t view this just from your point of view. Protesting against the man who has insulted our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is just a simplest act. Read this fatwa and you might change your view a little bit like i did after confirming this fatwa from other Islamic scholars.
