The Anti-America protests

So we all know that the how Muslims across the world have been protesting against the anti-Islam film made in America. I didn’t even bother to watch it because I knew I would be really disgusted.

But do you think protesting (and that too in the violent way) the correct way to express our love of the Holy Prophet SAW? Or is it more sensible to stay silent over this deplorable incident?

Re: The Anti-America protests

these protesters are publicising the film free of cost on one hand and destroying their countries’ infrastructures on other hand. Uncle Sam khush huwa :bummer:

Re: The Anti-America protests

I agree. But at the same time, what these people did was absolutely wrong. The filmmakers should be questioned and have appropriate action taken. But the muslims aren’t going to help the cause by torching down fast food chains and killing ambassadors :bummer:

Re: The Anti-America protests

The problem is our emotions (be it of happiness or anger) are not properly channelised. People want to express their emotions and want that such actions by so called opponents of freedom of expressions be tackled, but when they see that nothing is being done by Muslim rulers actively, they opt for these wrong routes, which strengthen propaganda against Islam and intolerance of Muslims.

Re: The Anti-America protests

Why does our love have to be expressed? If someone is religious, great. Keep it to yourself. No need to go on a crusade at the slightest offense against your beliefs. Why do Muslims feel the need to respond to every jackass?

There are always people who are going to make fun of, or speak our against, your cultural and religion. These protests are embarrassing.

Re: The Anti-America protests

There are deeper sentiments, events like these just act as trigger. Anyone who think the protests are solely to voice opposition to the film is seriously naive.

I don't understand why Muslims have to (almost) always resort to violence to try to make a point... Or have their voices heard. Yes, the movie was extremely offensive and was meant to demean, insult and incite anger but I think the violent protesting of Muslims all over the world is only confirming and legitimizing all the anti-Islamic banter. The unrestrained ways the Muslims are conveying their frustration/anger with the movie is beyond disappointing. These incidents (setting establishments on fire, going on bloody rampages, etc) are validating the sentiments of the people that see Islam as a primitive & violent religion.

Re: The Anti-America protests

No job, no money, no girlfriend, nothing to do.
"Hey let's burn a building"
"Yayyyyyyyyy"

Re: The Anti-America protests

The question is why Islam only? Why Prophet SAW? I have rarely infact almost never seen Americans or Danish/European people make fun of Hinduism, Sikhism..why target Islam all the time.

Re: The Anti-America protests

Eni because the racists know they can get a reaction. Eg a racist mocks Islam, calls us all violent, people will say to him ''not all Muslims are like that''. Unfortunately Muslims in return will riot and kill and the racists will turn around and say ''SEE?!''.

They do it to get a reaction, and unfortunately Muslims hand it to them on a plate.

Re: The Anti-America protests

nice question

Re: The Anti-America protests

Yes I kind of agree to shak! I get what you are saying. Our reaction is usually so uncalled for it, it masks the atrociously bad incident itself !

Re: The Anti-America protests

The point of the thread is not that the protests are solely about the movie. The question is whether or not violent protests are the proper outlet for frustration. I hope people can agree that they're not. Killing a diplomat is unnecessary, and many Libyans have demonstrated against the murder, and support the prosecution of the criminals.

If you want to protest something, speak out against policy. Speak out against drone strikes. Speaking out against some moron who decided to bad mouth your religion is just stupid.

Re: The Anti-America protests

^Agreed.

The protests are making the Middle East look like its inhabited by barbarians! All those idiots are doing is ruining their own countries, killing their own people and making the entire Muslim population of the world look like uncivilized savages.

American flags have been burned in what, 20 Muslim countries in the last few days? An American diplomat was murdered in Libya for no good reason. Should Americans storm the Libyan embassy in the US and the 20 other embassies of countries who are burning American flags and very publicly spewing their hatred of the United States?

If anything, Al-Arabiya or whichever channel it was that translated the clip and played it on television should be put in jail. Nobody knew or cared about this “movie” until the Arabs made a huge deal out of it. It’s like they are just sitting their waiting to find something like this so they can prove America is evil? And surprise surprise, not every non-muslim in the world respects and loves your propher as much as you do?

Re: The Anti-America protests

Unfortunately, most of the protests are lead by uneducated tools. The educated ones calling for protests are doing it for their personal gain not Islam.
Any kind of violence is wrong. All they're doing is burning their own cities. There are proper ways of retaliation and violence is not one of them.

Re: The Anti-America protests

Its the job of the Islamic Clerics and Imams to be the grownups and tell their constituents not to respond this film by violence but just ignore it.

But instead its these Fiery Clerics who are actively encouraging demonstrations and violence against Westerners.

And then they want the rest of the world to believe that "Islam is a religion of peace"

What Hypocrites.

I am more offended by the actions of these protestors than by the movie.

Re: The Anti-America protests

My local paper had this cartoon where a burqa clad woman was standing by a huge sign that said 'kill those who insult islam' while a couple of guys looked on. The caption said 'islam is a religion of peace.' One of the guys was a media person with a notepad on which he wrote 20/20 in response to the caption. I hate it when moron mullahs and their equally moronic followers make my religion look bad. I wish I could find that cartoon.

Re: The Anti-America protests

Its sad really. Watching people riot and fight with people who haven't done anything all in the name of Islam.

And why is it that it's always Muslims who have to go through someone insulting their religion? Maybe it's our own fault. We thrive on reactions. We close our minds and run to burn down the first public property we see.
