I have been meaning to ask for a while now , keep forgetting ..
After goonding Aata , I store it in a food container … when its almost finishing , it becomes a hassle to clear the pot of the left over ata and i dont like wasting it , so I end up literally scatching it off the container and my fingers hurt
Wht I do I wrap ghoonda hua ata in damp cloth it neither sticks on loth nor container than just wash tht cloth but no difficult n moreover ata remains good for 3 days n also colour doesn't hange
also I have an issue .. I have garam haat .. I was told that is the reason when i knead atta , it goes runny in less then two days .. so I dont think i will be able to wrap it in just cloth ...
Dev , wo bi kia ... infact I do that , after goonding , i leave it covered for half hour and then place it in the container ... but the problem persists ..
do you think oiling the container before putting the ata in there might help?
Yeah it will help but don't know whether aya will remain fine or not zayada slippery na ho jai n phr roti banana mushkil ho jai
Wht u can do if it sticks before washing add water in the container for 30mins it will automatically remove thn u can wash easily this is wht I do wth my bowl in which I knead it it's so easy to wash it thn
i dont store goondha hoa aata in general ... but if i do have left over aata ... I take a saran wrap, spread it out over counter top. very very lightly oil it, plop the left over aata ball onto it, wrap and store in plastic container with lid.
CB I used to have the same prob, especially with dried aata bits on the container. Now I do what ehl does and cover it completely with saran wrap and no more messy containers. and I do knead aata for 2-3 days at a time.
^ I second that. I always put the leftover dough in a saran wrap and then in the container, never had the sticky issue. I also feel that the saran wrap helps it keep moist from the top and inside, and it doesn't turn hard from the top.
We store the ata in a large pyrex glass bowl with a plastic lid.
Once I'm done goondhing the ata, I give the glass bowl a rinse with water so that its wet, and then the place the ata in it. Then I wet my hand with water and press my hand all over the top of the ata, so it gives a non-sticky wet film to the ata. Finally, I place a damp paper towel over the top and cover it with the plastic lid. Then put it in the fridge.
Once the ata is almost finished, there's hardly any left on the sides of the bowl. In order to clear the small bits of ata stuck to the sides of the bowl, fill up the bowl with warm water, and leave it alone for a few mins, then take that same paper towel and scrap off the sides, the ata comes off very very easily and sticks to the paper towel which you can toss out.
This always works and we've been doing it for years.
Well if it sticks, before washing add warm/hot water in the container for about 15/20mins it will soften the atta stuck in there, then u can wash it easily. use a mild scourer but dont use ur fingernails, or the steel brillo pad as it can damage the surface. i do the same, just use wam water its easier.
