Heres a request to ALL sunni Bretheran (specially kaleem, armughal, bao-bihari, gugpguppy, Cod_Red (as he said in another post that there are various traditions in hadith books on the vitues of Hz. Ali), Ibn_Sadiq, Anwaar Qureshi) to post atleast five traditions showing the virtues of the Fourth Caliph Ali Karam Allah Wajho.
I would also request my Shia Bretheran not to post in this thread cause I only need the sunni point of view on the virtues of Hz Ali Karam Allah Wajho. (Need it for an article)
thx.
**And yeah, Please stay on the topic. ****You can also post more then five traditions if you want. ALL means other sunni guppies can also contribute their love to The forth Caliph of Islam Hz Ali Karam Allah Wajho. **
Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
zer01 I just ‘arrived’ here to update myself with the ‘happenings’ and saw your post. I'll be honoured to narrate the virtues of the great and noble Comapnion of our dear Prophet (saw) who seeing Hz. Ali (ra) valour and exploits in the battles in the name of Islam named him 'Asad Allah' - 'the Lion of Allah'.
Virtues of Hz. Ali bin Abi Talib (ra):
1 Hz. Ali bin Abi Talib (ra) is the first male to enter into Islam.
2) From his male relatives the noble Prophet (saw) loved Hz. Ali bin Abi Talib (ra) the most.
3) Hz. Ali bin Abi Talib (ra) is the husband of the noble Lady Fatimah (ra) who will be from among the leaders of the ladies in Paradise.
4) Hz. Ali bin Abi Talib (ra) is the father of the leaders of the youth in Paradise [Imam Hassan and Imam Hussein (May Allah (swt) be pleased with them both)].
5) Hz. Ali bin Abi Talib (ra) is one of the [Asharatul Mubash-sharah] Ten Blessed Companions promised Paradise.
6) Hz. Ali bin Abi Talib (ra) is the fourth among the righteous Khaleefs on the Khalifaat al Nabuwwah.
If I had the time I could have gone up to three pages.
And just to let you know that I have one son and I have named him Ali.
Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
brother anwaar, Ali (ra) being declared gate of city is a very weak hadith....
that he was born in kaaba is very very doubtful....
please provide references....
we have all read that Ali (ra) was on Muhammad (saw)'s shoulders and broke the idols during fath-e-makka....
if he was a teenager at the time of nabuwwat, then at fath-e-makka, he wud be around 36-40 years of age, and not sensible that he wud be on the Prophet (saw)'s shoulders....
elsewhere i have heard that the Ali (ra) who was on the Prophet's (saw) shoulders and broke the idols was his grandson, Ali (ra), the son of his daughter Zainab (ra), also known as Ali Zainabi....
plz verify this for me as well....
more than the conquest of the Fort of Khyber, i think it is important what the Prophet (saw) said about the flag, that he will give it to one who loves Allah and His Prophet and who is loved by them....
Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
the points which some of u dint posted are:-
1) ali (ra) was the cousin of pbuh as abu talib was the uncle of pbuh.
2) ALI (RA) was one of the famous and responsible member of parliament formed by omar (ra) called as MAJLIS-E-SHOORA.
3) AND ALSO ALI(RA) WAS one of the best mujhahids among sahabas,
4) when sayyidna amr bin aas and abu ubaida (ra) were fightining in bait -ul-muqaddas, and the muslims were able to control the area of bait-ul-muqaddas, the christians in bait-ul-muqaddas put the condition that the calpiha should come and draft a treaty with his own hand writing, so OMAR IBN KHATTAB (RA) Appointed Ali (ra) as acting calpiha on a journey to bait ul muqaddas in the month of rajab 16 AH.
Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
"He was born in the house of ALLAH (SWT)"
Becareful about such a information. It is not logical and you know from this point Shias claim that Allah took form of Sayyedna Ali (Nauz-u-Billah). How can you imagine that on the busiest place, where people go and worship, a woman goes to give birth to a child? Is this reasonable deed? And Shias add more to it, they claim that she went in the House of Allah not through door but the wall exploded and there made a hole for her to enter in it. How it will be reasonable.
I dont have any objection on the other hadiths or information you quoted. I hope you dont mind if I corrected or guided you. May Allah make you the right follower of Islam.
Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
Here are mine........
** 1)** He was a Sufi. 2) He was a Brave Soldier. 3) He was grown up in the house of our beloved Prophet(PHUH). 4) Our mothers, the Mothers of all Muslims, took part in his training. 5) He married the daughter of our beloved Prophet (PBUH).
Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
the rank Ali (ra) achieved was not based on his relation, it was based on his righteousness and struggle in the cause of Islam....
100% right. As you know about Qabeel, son of sayyedna Adam, Son of Sayyedna Noah and his wife also and wife of Sayyedna Loot, all were disbelievers (Kafirs). God punished them in front of those prophets.
Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
zer01, As growing up going to school and college and university and meeting people from various walks of life I never read, seen heard or came across any disrespect For Hazrat Ali (ra) or any noble member of Ahle-bait from any sunni....
We grew up listening to the stories of his bravery, wisdom, piety and love of prophet (pbuh) and Islam. A sunni will be furious and enraged if he hears someone (God forbid) bad mouth about Hazrat Ali karam Allah wajhu
I will contribute later, as you need it for an article :) I hope it is not urgent.
Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
I have not been asked but will give views too which in have got from a site. witness-pioneer.org
Hz. Ali (ra) was of medium height.
He had a superb head with a face as noble as the man himself.
His nose was straight, and his mouth was beautifully formed.
His eyes were most commanding, being full of light and luster.
There was a note of music in his voice. There was an aura of spirituality, and a strong personal magnetism about him.
In his youth, he was handsome, and full of fiery vigor.
In his latter age, he became corpulent and bulky.
His gray hair of the head gave way to baldness.
His beard, however, remained thick and luxuriant, and he often dyed it red.
He was stout, genial, charitable, meditative, reserved-a man who towered high above the people around him because of his intellectual and spiritual attainments.
Hz. Ali (ra), the man was endowed with all qualities that make a man great.
He is not only great, he is regarded as a superman, an ideal man.
He was a paragon of virtue.
He enjoyed fame for his piety, and religious devotions.
He was en embodiment of Islamic values.
In his love of God and His Messenger, he was second to none.
While praying to God, his absorption was so intense that he often lost consciousness.
His mind was so pure that he could hold communion with God.
He had learnt the Holy Quran by heart, and he could quote appropriate verses to suit every occasion.
He was most truthful and honest.
He most humble he was simple in his habits.
He avoided display and luxury.
He lived the life of an ascetic.
Even, when Khaleef, he lived in an ordinary house.
The doors of his house remained open for all at all times.
He was most generous.
He was most liberal in giving charity.
He always came to the help of those who were distressed and involved in any difficulty.
He looked after widows and orphans as if they were the members of his own household.
He was a warrior, a General, and a man conspicuous for his bravery and valor.
Indeed he was braver than any other man in history.
He fought hundreds of duels in his lifetime, and in all such encounters his rivals were worsted. In the various battles he killed a record number of enemy. He was a skilful swordsman.
His sword would never miss its mark.
In the various battles that he fought he never turned his back.
He was an embodiment of patience.
In the Battle of Uhud he received so many wounds that the nurses were unable to dress such wounds.
He bore the pain with great patience.
The people around him misunderstood him, but he did not lose patience.
He was most chivalrous, and forgiving.
He would forgive even his worst enemies.
He was a great scholar. His book Nahj-ul-Balagha is a living proof of his scholarship and erudition.
There was a sense of humor about him, and sometimes he said things in a lighter vein to bring home the point he had in view.
He was a master of similes and metaphors, and when bringing home a point he always illustrated it with appropriate metaphors and similes.
He was a great philosopher, and there is great depth in his thoughts expressed in his writings. He was known for his wisdom.
He was indeed wiser than Solomon.
Most of his wise sayings have attained the dimensions of proverbs.
He was a great orator.
His sermons were most impressive.
He was the master of rhetoric.
He is regarded as the father of Islamic learning.
He has left a deep mark on Islamic theology. He was the founder of Arabic grammar.
He was a great poet.
He was the Father of Islamic jurisprudence.
He was an impartial judge His famous judgments are the most valuable assets of Islamic jurisprudence.
He was a skillful administrator.
He introduced numerous reforms.
He was an eminent political thinker, and his political thought has an air of modernity about it. The greatness of Hz. Ali (ra) as a man is multi-dimensional in character, and after the Holy Prophet he is the greatest Muslim whose memory is honored by the Muslims, all over the world.
Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
First of all I would like to thank Ibn Sadique for taking the initiative and posting the virtues of Hz Ali Karam Allah Wajho. Which also encouraged others to take part in this thread. (cause I was giving up hope as I saw 40 hits with no reply )
I also thank every poster in this thread for their worthy submissions. May Allah (swt) Bless you all for that.
But, as Ibn Sadique mentioned in his reply that these are the common knowledge, I see that most of the virtues posted are well-known among common people and people have been listening these virtues from their childhood.
By Traditions I acutely meant the virtues of Ali Karam Allah Wajho, which were narrated by the companions of Rasulallah (s) or told by Prophet of Allah himself written in the authentic sunni books and are not in knowledge of common people or so to say that a lot of people have never heard of such traditions.
Following are some examples (just to show you guys what i meant) of these traditions I am copying and pasting from sunni websites:
Dr Tahir ul Qadri has in his book “The Ghadir Declaration” gathered 51 Traditions only on the topic of Ghadir-e- Khum on the virtues of Hz Ali Karam Allah Wajho from the books written by sunni Ulema. A couple from that book.
Source (please click on source or on the numbers at the end of the translations for the references)
(Again I’ve used ctrl+c and ctrl+p from sunni sites just to show that what kind of traditions I am asking for.)
These are only few traditions. And internet is full of them. I could have taken those traditions for my article but its main theme is about The knowledge of the common people about Hz Ali Karam Allah Wajho in Sunni Islam.
And the reason why I specially requested kaleem, armughal, bao-bihari, gugpguppy, Cod_Red, Ibn Sadique, Anwaar Qureshi to come forward and post virtues on Hz. Ali (a) cause when it comes to religious matters, I always find Ibn Sadique, Anwaar Qureshi a step ahead to other sunnis, armughal once posted that he could show me a lot of books on the merits of Ahl-e-Bait (a). The way gupguppy eager to deny every hadith (no offence) shows he has a lot of knowledge about traditions so he must have known a couple authentic traditions on the virtues of Hz. Ali (a). But still there is no response from him in this matter???
Cod_Red as I mentioned above posted on Apr 25th, 2005, 08:14 AM:
**
Kaleem actually recently claimed that he can teach all the shias the true Islam (again no offence) so the one who has the whole knowledge of True Islam must know a couple traditions on Hz Ali’s (a) virtue. Still Waiting for his input though.
Zainiest, Jazakallah Brother for your input. Sorry if you somehow got the impression that you were not asked. Actually if you read the last sentence of my first post then you will see that ALL sunnis are welcome to share their love to Hz Ali (a).
Now back to the topic, I see there are few differences among the sunnis on some traditions, I don’t know why there are some contradictions but I would request Anwar Qureshi, armughal, OMG to **back their claims with references **so the matter get cleared up. thx.
Sis OMG,The topic is definitely only about The Virtues Of Hz Ali Karam Allah Wajho. So please stick to it. I requested my Shia bretheran not to post in this thread so please don’t provoke them by passing any Hateful Comments on Shiaism. Hope you would understand.
**Code_Red, **from where did you get the impression from my post that sunni disrespect Hazrat Ali (ra) or any noble member of Ahle-bait? I my self belong to a sunni Family and am very well aware of that they would do the same what you have bolded above. Hope to see a quick response from you.
So again people please stick to the topic and post the traditions narrated by the companions of Prophet (s) or told by the Prophet (s).
Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
PYCGuria… here is an example the lame excuses people come up with in their hatredness towards Hazrat Ali A.S… this dude went as far as doubting Prophet P.B.U.H. he is having a hard time trying to figure out how a 36-40 years old man can stand on the shoulders of Prophet P.B.U.H. eventhough the Quran have ayats… which talks about miracles of Prophets… Prophet Jesus born without a father.. Prophet Moses threw a stick and it became a snake… Prophet Noah.. his ship was enough not to sink in the storm… they can accept all these facts.. but have a hard tiime figuring out how a 36-40 year old man can stand on the shoulders of Sardar-e-Ambiya Prophet P.B.U.H. how far can you go degrading Prophet P.B.U.H. just becaue they have hard time digesting truth about Hazrat Ali A.S… buddy first you need to clear up the concept of Prophet Hood.. what are the capable of can they do maujiza..before you try to make sense on Hazrat Ali A.S.
This is an example why Prophet P.B.U.H. give the following hadiths which is also in sunni books… People would go degrading Prophet hood.. in their grudges against Hazrat Ali A.S.

hypocrasy."

Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
Hazrat Ali was one of the bravest man of his era. He was the ultimate scale of patience, wisdom, power, bravery against which all men will be measured.
Zer01 bhaijaan, this is from what I have read and learnt. If you want me to quote refrences, it will have to wait.
Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
texan dude, it is not a matter of what the Prophet (saw) cud do and cud not do....
it is quite logical a question to ask "what a 40 year old man wud be doing on the shoulders of a 60 plus man"....
it makes more sense to think that an old man wud have his grandson on his shoulders....
also note that i only stated what i have heard....
i have this logical statement to support my viewpoint, if u have a reference bring it up....
if u dont, stop claiming to be able to read my mind and heart and to know who i love and who i hate....
for a good measure, even christians wud think i hate Jesus (as) for not be willing to accept him as a son of god....
they think i am lowering his position....
r u angry at me for not accepting the exaggerations u do in Ali (ra)'s rank????
Re: The 4th Calif - Ali Karam Allah Wajho - Sunni Only
Texan_Dude - It is getting quite lame and redundant that all your posts revolves around "loving Ali hating Ali " syndrom and lengthy references. Cut it and move on.
Checking authenticicy of any tradition is nothing wrong, and we all should be careful about it.
