Thank you Aleem Dar

In World Cup 2011, 57 Reviews were Taken Against ALEEM DAR of Pakistan and none of them was A wrong Decision. 100% Correct Decisions by Him. Hats Off to Aleem Dar, once again u have made us proud..

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

:k:

The most reliable umpire of the word cup. Even Simon Taufel had some decisions overturned like the LBW verdict against Sachin in SF

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

WOW!! That is amazing..just AMAZING..and I was very happy to see him at the Final!

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

yes , Aleem Dar is the best umpire

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

i dont think it was taufel…taufel i believe also enjoyed 100% record in the WC

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

as mentioned , LBW decision overturned ..

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

Correction: PD you are right. That was Ian Gould not Simon Taufel

10.4
*Saeed Ajmal to Tendulkar, no run, lbw! Ian Gould raises the finger and Tendulkar wants a review. There’s only one review left. That pitches in line, hits him in line but the replays show that it is likely to miss leg stump. And listen to that roar in Mohali. That looked close. Tendulkar bats on … *

As per the following article, Taufel did not have a 100% record before the Semis

“Among the umpires, Aleem Dar, Ian Gould and Billy Bowden haven’t had a single decision overturned through the DRS. At the other end of the scale are Asoka de Silva and Daryl Harper, with 50% or more of their decisions being overturned.”

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

you mean ajmal's delivery to sachin in SF?well, i dont think it was taufel...i am pretty sure abt it....

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

I stand corrected . see edited post above (#7)

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

no worries janab...

some moments of india-pak matches stick to my memory forever and will remain there forever, i guess....one of those are gould's facial expressions upon hearing that he was wrong followed by a slight shake of head as if he could not believe what he just heard.....given what was at stake, my heart was in my mouth throughout those 2 minutes with eyes stuck to the computer screen without a blink as if somehow i would be able to change the direction of the ball by spirtual intervetnion!!!

knew that it wasn’t taufel but did not want to argue with our moderator either! Thanks for the clarification...

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

Taufel had a decision overturned in the final I think? The one he gave not out...think it was Samaraweera. And that Ajmal decision, I think Aleem Dar or Taufel both would've given that out, it was so plumb.

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

Aleem dar…me proud of you…one of the best umpires he is…well done :jhanda:

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

One of the best umpires of the world

Aleem Dar :hbk:

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

Here are the top 5 umpires of the tournament

Umpire Reviews/Appeal-rejected
Aleem Dar 14/14

Billy Bowden 6/6
Marius Erasmus 11/10
Billy Doctrove 9/8
Shavir Tarapore 9/8

Taufel who is another wonderful umpire had 12/10 (83.xx %) rate

The two umpires with the poorest review records were Asoka de Silva (five out of eight appeals upheld), and Daryl Harper (seven out of 14).

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

Good job Aleem Dar :k:

Pakistani umpires have come a long way since the days of Shakoor Rana :hehe:

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

yeah :k:

unfortunately, Indian umpires still seems to stuck in era of Swaroop Kishen and Ramaswamy when we had MBW (Miandad-before-wicket, out) in Indian cricket rule book.

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

The lone Indian umpire Shavir Tarapore (9/8) did not do too poorly.

And what we lacked in umpires, we made up in players :D

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

Shakoor Rana still proudly holds the letter of apology from Mike Getting

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

You are right. Taufel just got one decision wrong, in the final. Aleem Dar came out to be the best umpire in the tournament. Though Dar and Taufel both are exceptionally good, Dar is the Nadal to Taufel's Federer now. Taufel was the best umpire 5 years in a row, from 2004 to 2008; Dar was the best umpire in 2009 and 2010.

Re: Thank you Aleem Dar

I think I will open a thread titled "The secrets behind Aleem Dars spectacular umpiring decisions" and how the last 5 years planning prepared him for this world cup. :D
