Have you ever visited Thana (Police Station)?
what do you know about thana culture in Pakistan???
Visited my friend at Police Station few days back. He is an ASI :D. Environment of police station was but, as Naveed is my close childhood friend so it was not that hard for me to stay there for more then an hour. During I stay there I saw a lot of weird things there.
Aik mulaqati, volenterrily says: “sir aap k mehman aaye hain kuch khanay lay aaon???”
I have been there once, as they threatened to arrest me if I didnt go and see them. It was an investigation thana, very dangerous feel to it. It was like I am moving through a graveyard with deadbodies (zombies/spirits) moving around.
Two times, first when I hit a police mobile with my car. The mobile got some scratches breaking head lights of my car, but the tullas were adamant to go with them to Kalan Kot thana (most dangerous in Lyari) and meet SHO. Thanks God, I was accompanied by a person who had some friends in police and thats how I didn’t have to go through with consequences a normal person had to face in such situation. The person asked me not to disclose my actual job and salary to any police wala.
Second time when someone stolen CD player from my care and just to get an FIR for claiming Insurance, I have to go to police station for 2-3 times each time getting different instructions to bring application, etc. Then my boss called and send someone from office who got some links with police. but for getting FIR, we have to pay may around Rs 500.

nahin that was some dacoity case, they wanted me to help them solve a case of 12 crore case and that in the next peshi I should bring my bori bistra to the thana. :(
I know of some one whose wife/daughters jewellery was stolen. He had a case registered in the thana near his house, every other day he was called to the police station to recognize the culprits. After a few weeks he went there and requested them to take back his complaint as “no jewellery was stolen”.
As long as we have the attitude prison is for other people, situation will go from bad to worse. Separate set of laws for the well heeled and well connected.
Prison does not make a person better. Locking people up for non violent situations makes no sense. Do away with blasphemy laws, legalize drugs ( or make doing drugs a non jailable offense) invest in education rather than punishment.

I once had an accident with Ch Shujaat's car, at that time he was interior minister under Nawaz Sharif. As a first reaction every one was with me as the mistake was from the other side. The kids wanted me to accompany them to their accommodation, when the people found out who my opponents were they suddenly switched sides. :) I had to go to their palaces, were adamant that I pay for their losses but somehow managed to return unscathed.
