Anyone tried a traditional “thali” type meal?

I actually enjoy them a lot :bummer:

I love it when it is all served in separate serving utensils , pure Indian style.

There used to be hotel in karachi - Metropolitan. They had a resturant attached to it and i think the name was Village. They used to serve Thali (both veg and non veg). It was fabulous.

Yes, and it’s haram for muslims to eat out of thalis for our mouths will burn in the fire of hell :chai:

Palak Paneer , daal makhni, rasam , dosa, chana poori , idli , achar , chutney , raita .

BUT, if you replace all the daals and bhujias with kebabs and niharis, we should be all set, no?

Unfortunately , mostly thali is served at Indian vegetarian restaurants. Kababs , nihari , paya has to be served in big utensils , those small samall thali utensils cannot do justice to them. :D

When we make desi food, we eat like that anyway…i don’t like just one saalan on its own :snooty: I like having a meat, a veg and maybe a munchy thing on the side (kebab, samosa etc) finished with rice or roti/naan, salad, pickles and chutneys…

I don’t like it all separated though, i like it all on one plate… am i weird? :bummer:

Niks, My BIL likes the thali setup because he doesn’t like it when different foods are touching each other :hehe:
