Went to see it this evening. Was awesome!!! Action and gore throughout the movie holding you by the edge of your seat. The 1 hr. 45 min. long movie was worth every bit to see it in the theater and horror fans like me would return to the theater to watch it again in a heartbeat. Leatherface was menacing and every bit the ogre one expects him to be. The bizarre nature of the film, based on a real life “leatherface” named Thomas Hewitt, will keep you in as much agony, pain, and torture as experienced by his victims. Also, definitely one to be bought once it’s out on DVD. Go watch it if you have a chance, folks. Word of advice for the light of heart: don’t eat before you watch it unless you want to upchuck on your fellow audience.
Sparkly Eyes, the movie trailers didn't look half as good as the movie itself turned out to be. Please check it out if possible. I kid you not, you'll absolutely love it.
Fret yes you did tell me a few days back that it is based on Ed Gein's story. His story sounded very interesting indeed.
Folks, sorry for the error above. I thought I read it on the movie website as the movie having been based on this Thomas Hewitt dude. Hewitt is actually just a character known to us as Leatherface.
Well it wasn’t based on the story of Ed Gein, it was inspired by it, as were many movies. The skin mask, the cannibalism, etc. I still prefer the original version.
I will have to watch the original also then but Fret, is the original basically the same storyline involving 5 kids and Hewitt's strange family as the recent TCM or is it somewhat different?

Similar storyline, yes. However some of the characters and parts of the story were different in the original.
Well, it wasn’t supposed to be original, it’s a remake. I think the movie was well done. It was definitely more intense than the original. Sometimes remakes can be successful, and other times, complete failures. The 1989 remake of the 1968 classic “Night of the Living Dead” was great. I’m very curious to see the upcoming “Dawn Of The Dead” remake.
