Re: Tether Phone to Laptop
Well I don't mind using FoxFi but was just wondering why it didn't work from settings. I just looked at my provider's website it says they will slow down the speed after a 10 GB is reached but nothing about a charge (assuming because its unlimited).
check specifics for tethering.
Re: Tether Phone to Laptop
i dont think the service provider can tell that easily if cdg is using tethering. its just a bunch of ip packets as far as they are concerned, and cant tell apart traffic your phone generates from what your laptop tethering generates. unless they are super-super-snoopy and painstakingly put together a lot of difficult things. bottomline, you should be ok, cdg.

hmm it seems there is no mention of a price but fair policy which indicates if there is unlimited data plan then after 10 GB speed is reduced.

I assume so as well since we have a third party aka foxfi and the whole purpose is to use it as a loophole.

No no, I meant using the built in hot spot that comes with the phone without installing a third party app. WHy can't she use that? SO I'm thinking maybe because there's a charge for it.
Re: Tether Phone to Laptop
Oh ok yes, possibly something that has to be activated. I got worried they are gonna charge me for tethering. ![]()
Re: Tether Phone to Laptop
Never felt the need of using it,my internet is unlimited and fast.

It's because you're so cool! :p
Re: Tether Phone to Laptop
Hmm. I always just use a wireless hotspot and have never had the need to use an app. I think you may have to contact your service provider. I hadn't heard of this issue until this thread but a quick google search showed that this is experienced by alot of people on American (or Canadian) cellular networks.
Although I find it strange you can just by pass it with an app.
Re: Tether Phone to Laptop
Maybe in Narnia they don’t care. ![]()
Yes, there is a separate charge if you want to use the tethering feature.
How they can tell if something is amiss if you are tethering is when your bandwidth usage goes from 500-1000 mb/month to 5-6 gb/month.
Re: Tether Phone to Laptop
Wireless technology hasn't reached Narnia yet. The Eagles are still the best method of communication, if you are allied with them.
But in Australia they don't care. We aren't as uptight as Mars :D ;)
Re: Tether Phone to Laptop
Yea, there is a $10 charge for it. I'd rather not pay it and use an app. :D I think I am going to look for a new ISP that offers a good price on unlimited internet. It was still a good learning experience and now I know how to tether without paying money for it. :D
Re: Tether Phone to Laptop
^^ I told ya. These carriers find any way to suck your $.

Khula Baagh or Open Garden ![]()
No no this isn’t where you steal flowers for your significant other from.
Share your experiences if possible. I’ve used Fox Fi as well. Don’t know how the 2 are much different.
Re: Khula Baagh
My mate told me he has connected his laptop with his phone. He does all the work on mobile through laptop but he uses phone only for calls. Is it the same app?
Re: Khula Baagh
No doesn't sound like it. He may be talking about Air Droid which allows you to move files around, etc and do actual "work" on ur phone via ur laptop screen. Open Garden is a connectivity app.
Re: Khula Baagh
does it require the android device to be rooted?
