A rishta came for my cousin and the people were so rude. They started insulting our family the minute they walked in. They werent even talking about rishta stuff…just criticizing. We have mutual family friends and thats how they heard about us. After an hour of listening to their bakwaas my cousin (potential bride) stood up and told them off. She didnt say anything too rud ejust that it seems they are here to criticize complete strangers rather than to see the family and that she couldnt tolerate it anymore.
The boy’s family in turn said "HUM TO AAPKA TEST LEYRE THE..YEH DEKHNE KE LIYE KE AAP KITNA KUCH SEH SAKTI HAIN..AAP TOH ITNA ACHI KARI THI..PAR AB HUMEIN PATA CHALA AAP TOH KUCH HANDLE NAHIN KARSAK THI "
We all stood their wit our mouths opened!!
DO people actually do that? Testing?
Also do you think she handled it right? What would you have done?

God i hope no, can people get any more rude. My mum usually insists on meeting the other family first and asking around about them usually someone will know something. My mum told me some one was very rude to her and i was like to my mum why did you stay quietyou should have repeadted the same things to her its not likeher son was prince charming. All i can say is your friend had a lucky escape she should thank Allah. They should be proud of the fact that the girl has some good moral upstanding and stands up for her family.

thats really weird indeed..good that they were told off.just imagine,if they can behave like this with their so-called tests and all while just coming for the rishta,then Allah knows,how many more tests would she go through if she gets married off into that family..
She did the right thing. I would've done the same thing with no regrets.

ok thats just weird and cheap… no one does crap like that… and what were they expecting her reaction to be? to sit there and hear random strangers talk crap about her family? no one is that bayghairat

I came to hear of late, that there's no level to which people will stoop so low.
I have a friend, who went to see a potential rishta, anyway 3 questions in he was being asked, what his income, how much he saves per month, etc. etc. From what he was telling me was that he felt very uncomfortable; and after repeated questions on the same subject, he angrily walked out with his mother has it seemed they were being taken advantage of, coming from a poor background.

Sorry, but that is wierd and I wouldnt want to be a part of any family that wants to orchestrate a TEST to see how much verbal abuse I can handle. Shows a complete lack of class and that these people are really jhagraloo log.

About 10 years ago my older brother once was asked to break "chaalia" when he was invited for a rishta. They wanted to test his teeth. :D
