As the third match is nearing its end, lets try to look at the results and reprcussions, if any. What did pakistan gain/lose (apart from three tests) from this test series? Plusses and minusses? Did Pakistan match australia in parts or not?

Well i think there has been improvement since we started the series to the last game. Just some things though.
We lose too many batsmen that come and play for a little bit get settled, make more than 30 runs and then get out. They need to make more runs than this.
Eventhough Salman butt made 100, but that should never be the limit. It seemed that as soon as he made 100 he felt that his responsibility is over. Once he makes 100 he should start thinking about making 200 and so on.
We dont have the upper hand in bowling that we used to have a few years ago. We need to train some new bowlers as bowling is becomming one of our weakness. Going into this series, I thought that we will be able to bowl well on australian pitches, but we didnt do that at all.
Over all this test series is a big eye opener for the whole team and fans. For me at this time our young team is not a test team and we may have some chances in the one dayers,

The only great perspective among bowlers was Kaneria's strength to bowl endlessly. He bowled long long spells. None of the other bowlers shined, ( even though Shoaib took 5 wicktes), all went useless or their out burst was short.
Among Batsmen ,Salman Boy,Youhana,Kamal and Younis showed some act. I think it would be good if keep Imran Farhat now out of some time and keep on concentrating on Taufeeq Umer with Salman. We only lack the capability to make double figures to three girues. One we get into that act, we can prosper more. Like their were a few scores of 50+ which got near hundred. and then there were a few scores of 100+ which couldnt get near 150 or 200. Our fielding proved to be sluggish like always. for Captaincy I dont ahve any comments.
and then Umpiring, it was more sluggish.. the out that was given of Rana and Younis today was clean pathetic ( when Rana was given LBW I heard commentator say that This shouldnt happen, and it should not have happened to Younis as well).. so both were stupid..
The conclusion is that we only need a lil bit of more consistency in batting make double figures to three figures and make three figures to double ton. and for bowling lets wait till Umar gul adn Shabber are back. May be those two can make some difference.

salman butt - showed he can play on fast tracks as well and not just on dead tracks....
kaneria - shut the mouths of the ppl who said he can bowl only against bangladesh....
this series has proven that he is set to be our key spinner (and bowler) for tests....
asim kamal - he can be relied upon, but just needs to play more often....
yasir hameed - when in form, he can even handle the aussies....
younis khan - a slap on the faces of all those who hate to see him
negatives
our senior players r good for nothing....
youhana - unreliable when needed
shoaib - will perform atleast once in three matches
sami - expired
razzaq, malik - not good performers for tests
akmal - must be discarded asap
imran - end of career?

I think Shoaib only performs once every complete tour, now I doubt that he will perfom well in ODI, such a looser he is. such bad attitude… Pakistan really miss starts like Waqar,Waseem,Aaqib, Imran.
why do we keep Razaq in Test Sides, this is total mystery. That guy’s technique against spin is well known. His bowling is good for ODI’s but nothing for test standard. and then we added shoaib malik as a genunine batsman in our team and didtn allow him to bowl. what is team management doing there.

Pakistan did show occassional sparks of brilliance such as making them 78/5 in the first test and then putting a decent contest in the first inning of the second test and then scoring around 200 runs for the loss of 1 or 2 wickets in first innings of the last test. On all occasions, Australia fought back and tore us apart.
In effect, test cricket requires more than occassional sparks. It is about consistency and sustained hostility for 5 days and we failed to match Australia in this regard.

In the closing ceremonies, Yoyo kept blaiming the losses to 'inexperience'. Well, I got news for him. Your inexperienced players - Butt, Asim, Asif, Akmal, and Danish played superbly whereas the so called experienced - Yourself, Yunis, and Afridi did crap.
This goes to show what kind of idiot and non-thinking people are at the helm of Pakistani team. They lack cohesive thinking and strategy.

yaar, he had to blame something, he couldn’t take blame to himself and other seniors, so he had to say lack of experience.
Others have already pointed well the positives and negatives. I’ll say positive is confirmation of new batsmen as “batsmen” Salman, Yasir, Asim, and some hope in Akmal, Asif (better than Sami, I think).
Negatives: Sami, Youhanna, Inzi, Razzaq, Malik (partial).
Other players were “just okay”.

Pakisatni team has completelytlost sense od Test cricket.. not only in this series but with past Sri Lankan and Indian series they dont know how to stay at wicket.. either they are chasing everthing out side off-stump or getting cheeky singles to get run out!!!
