Provincialism or the Provincial Assemblies? I dont think having the same laws in both places woud work, they are different provinces and thats why they need to be administered differently, based on the wishes of the people, provided no infringement takes place in regards to the constituition, which is the big question here. And besides, if people dont like it, they can vote the present pronvincial government out of power in the next elections.

that's the whole problem with this law. The bill will establish representatives down to the grassroots level, who have extremely intense power. They are able to come into your home without a warrant, and tell you how to behave - i.e. azaan hui hai, and why are you not praying?
They have the authority to come into a sarkari office, without warrant, and go thru files, etc. I think the lady on capital talk also said they can arrest a sarkari officer in a chutki.
The most scary part of the bill is that if anyone says anything against the REPUTATION of the representative, they will be jailed.
Now, lets say for arguments sake that this bill was passed, and executed. What essentially happens is that control is usurped by what basically amounts to is a group of appointed footsoldiers who have uncontrolled powers.
The average man is controlled by the government in a very fascist manner. And the average man can't speak out if the representative is doing any zulm on them, because they will be jailed in a chutki.
So when this kind of a law settles on a people, then its very hard to execute democracy effectively in upcoming elections. All the representatives have to do is force the people they control to vote a certain way.
And that's the rat ****ly way to do it, and MMA is quite rat ****ly down to its bones.

Its not racist, its a fact that such incidents happen. Given the nature of these pre-Islamic traditions which still occur, what does MMA plan on doing regarding these crimes?
MMA plans on doing nothing more than telling people how to perform wudu, and how not to talk to females for they are temptresses.
Other than that, they're not concerned about moving society forward.
I don't know how they got into power in the first place. Its a shame.

It is a cultural tradition, and that is a fact. The fact that these people follow Islam as their religion, or at least claim to, does not dismiss that they have a set of cultural traditions which are being followed and still allowed to happen. Perhaps, it is not written in the laws, but it is implicit in cultural practices.

It is in the nature of this state. Look at it name, LAND OF THE PURE. Look at its ideology, policies, and actions. Look at its educational system which has always taught intolerance and hatred. Virtually it is a state founded on hatred. What impact it is gonna have on a rural society where other ways of sociopolitical change are deliberately blocked.
Nevertheless emergence of MMA in NWFP has other dynamics; i.e. the policies of Pakistan viv-a-vis Afghanistan, the politics of Islam versus West, Pakistan's commitment to the interests of Arabs and the change in Pashtun society itself to which only one way has been left to express i.e. Islamic way.
Recently, MMA (Mullah Military Alliance) has fielded its candidates in local bodies elections under Mutahida Khidmati Amal. And they want to take political mileage out of it.
I think there is also a need to enact a law for the all-pervading "kanjarbazi" in Karachi/Lahore. It is like bollywoods there.

Radicalism is all a consequence of the “Pakistan Project”, which has hatred, communalism, and a mad pan-Islamic militarlistic outlook in its foundations. Don’t forget what your mardi-momin mardi-haq, amirul-momineen Ziaulhaq did. And what his predicessors did. Objective resolution which states that Pakistan will be a theocracy. And the state patronage of terrorist orgainzation and fundamentalist religious parties.
So please don’t see it in our culture. In 1946 election Pashtuns had overwhelmingly voted the secular Khudai Khidmatgars into power. Never in history, has Pashtun king /emperor created a theocracy. It all started with the movement for Pakistan.
And now good news for you. The terrorists involved in London blasts are of Pakistani origin.

SARGODHA, July 12: Sixteen armed men abducted a girl from her uncle抯 house in the Laluwali village, some 30km from here, on Monday night and took her to a deserted place where they criminally assaulted her.
The victim抯 family said that 16 armed men, including Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Riaz, Zahoor Ahmed and Ahmed Ali, had raped the girl, Sonia, after kidnapping her from the house of her uncle, Noor Mohammad.
However, the Bhagtanwala police said that the girl had been raped only by Nawaz and the others had helped him.
It has been learnt that Sonia lived in Faisalabad and arrived at her uncle抯 house in Laluwali only a few days ago. She was engaged to Nawaz, a cousin, when she was a child.
However, Nawaz harboured a grudge against her after she refused to marry him. He abducted and raped her with the help of his accomplices, most of whom are his relatives.
Police have registered a case under the Hadood Ordinance.
The girl抯 family refused to allow this correspondent to contact the victim, apparently because police had prohibited them from contacting newsmen.
