Terrible experience with desiger''Moazzam Abbasi' in Karachi??'

I'm sorry, I missed this part of your post.

You aren't describing a good designer...you're descibing a good darzee. Someone who will scrounge around and make something passable for any budget. Everyone knows that designer outfits are priced well beyond the cost of fabric and karigari, even when you account for the higher quality. What you're paying for is the designer's creativity, and yes, the exclusivity of owning a "designer" piece. No real designer is going to sacrifice that exclusivity in order to cater to all budgets. If you walk into Chanel and tell them that you need a dress for $500, they'll politely point you to the door. That isn't because they're not creative, nor is it impossible to produce a dress for $500. Rather, it's because producing a dress at that cost would not be consistent with their image as a premier couturier.

While HSY certainly is no Chanel, I think the point still holds true.

This dispute recalled my situation while back on my wedding.I went through same pain is Ms Maya went through.I got so much stress due to that designer and didn't enjoy my wedding. My situation was same but got my money back.Alhum dolillah.

1-Mr designer doesn't have solid reason to provide a cheap and totally different product.Firt of all if it was a tight budget he shouldn't be agree no matter what.If he agreed he should make a quality dress.I think in 2006 of time 65.000 was not bad at all.
Also when he got his un used dress back he should return money back.He is a designer as he said he is known designer so what a big deal to sell it if its really a good stuff. The **
**imost imporatantly he shouldn't disappeared while he came to defend himself and send should have the dress pic to clear his side.

She didn't do anything wrong except she paid money and upset due to not get the what she ordered. How you can servive in fashion industry without listening your client and not to give them product they want.If you are a good designer no matter how many changes are being made still it should be a nice outfit.
Honestly speaking you dont have right to keep her money after getting your dress back.It seem she is a respectable lady and doesn't want to go in other ways.No one has extra money to give away for no reasons.

2-Ms Maya your mistake is to send him all money specially if he is not a reknown designer .You should keep checking during the work period and tell some one to go and check him and should pay him in 2-3 payments.
I can feel your pain stealing money for no reason coz i know making money is not easy any where in the world.
Talk to him and if he think this amount is not more than his reputaion he will definitely will returned.I know there are thousands of here have had these kind or problems with desingers and i have no seen any of desingers come online and defend themselves. It seems fishy.
He shouldn't disappeared and still feel he is right he shouldn't take a minute to think and post the pic as an evidance.

I wish you all the very best.Learn with your mistake.

Re: Terrible experience with desiger''Moazzam Abbasi' in Karachi??'

Janab e ali, I didn't mean to be passive aggressive, anyhow I'm not referring to a darzee, I am actually talking about designers! These are Pakistani designers we're talking about, who give different rates to different people. The websites you'r referring to, if you go to Pakistan and act like your from Pakistan and not aboard, they will charge you much lower then their quoted prices or online prices. Their websites are particularly designed for people like "us" who live aboard.

I'm not saying that the designers will reduce the quality in the CLOTH, but instead of filling it up with a lot of KAM, they will do less of it. I am not saying they will compromise their reputation and workmenship of anybody's BUDGET, but they will work within your budget to provide you with an outfit that fits their reputation and something they would not be ashamed off, but will also please the customer, its called customer service. I'm not saying that they will make an outfit that is worth 1 lakh into someone's 20,000 budget, but would work around a 65,000 budget for that outfit, by reducing the kam on it and making changes. Yes alot of designers are stuck up enough not to work below their stated 4lakh budgets etc, but then again they price their dress to be worth at times 7 lakhs, but are not worth it. they charge like 5 lakhs extra just for their name.

Also it depends if you personally know the designer or not, in many cases you do get discounts if you know the designer personally or thru a family/friends. In such cases, almost all designers don't charge as much.

So it is not something un-heard of or impossible, it does happen and a lot of times and let's not compare Pakistani designers to Chanel or Dior, Not that our designers aren't that good, they are. I'm sure if you know someone who works at Chanel or a designer for Chanel you would get discounts.

One more thing, I'm not here to argue or fight with you. Just telling you my experience that Designers do work within your budget. I know for a fact that Bunto, Nomi, Maria B, Sana Safinaz and Deepak do work within your budget. I don't know about Mehdi or Nilofer Shahid etc

^they do work within a budget, but then you wouldnt call those bridal joras...think about it, so many people here know the starting price of a Bunto or an SS jora. Its not that they can't make something cheaper (youre right, they can) but it wont have the same look. i highly doubt names like Sana Safinaz or Bunto would give two prices to two different people, its way too easy to check up on them because so many people go there and generally, when girls go to places like that, they mention at least two or three references to dresses they've seen.

The longer ago you bought a jora, the better the price is...their prices rise with time because people are willing to pay more for them.

Re: Terrible experience with desiger''Moazzam Abbasi' in Karachi??'

I have been reading about this dispute and never participate was waiting to see the pic.
It seems Moazaam Abbasi is guilty and left the board without showing the pic of dress here.I think its enough to proof.......Beware of these type of Designers.....Learn with your mistakes guys.

i agree. and its not just about exclusivity- its also simple economics- why bother with a jora for $500 when you know you have a client base that will pay you $3500 for one?
bunto is the cousin of one of my bff's dads, and my bff had both her joras made through bunto. they were beautiful but they were not even close to the glamorous outfits we all see and drool over on GS. she did it as a favour to her cousin, but even then, its about making something beautiful without using up all your raw materials and distracting your workers from making outfits for actual clients who are willing to put down 5 lakh for an outfit. its called running a successful business.
