It seems as if the situation is getting out of control, an mqm person has been killed today and the city is said to be in mourning. I don’t know how the stake holders are dealing with this situation as the ethnic division seems to be growing between the biggest ethnicities there.

The violent and sabotage elements are currently running amok in the metropolis, bringing the routine civic life to an abrupt halt amid panic large writ on the faces of citizens.
A man was killed in a firing incident in Manzoor Colony in the recent spate of violence this morning. Also, another person was injured in firing incident in Safoora Chowrangi. Meantime, there are reports of injuries to other people as well in other parts of the city.
More than 25 buses have been set on fire in different areas of the city. Some people tried to set a bus on fire near Central Jail; however, their attempt was aborted. Also, firing incidents are being reported from various areas of the city.Gunshots rang in Malir-15 and on National Highway, where two buses were committed to flames.
A bus was set on fire in Abul Hasan Isfahani Road area. Some unidentified miscreants set a bus near Jauhar Chowrangi.
Some people forced the closure of shops in Gulbahar, where firing incident was also reported.
As many as four buses were torched in Orangi Town. Another bus was burned down on Shaheed-e-Millat Road. A mini-bus has been set ablaze at 4K Chowrangi.
Two buses were set on fire near Liaquatabad-10.
Some unidentified people roamed around in Gulshan-e-Iqbal-13D, where shops have been shut down in panic.
Meantime, there are reports from most areas of the city that petrol pumps have been closed.Intense firing was reported from area abutting Falak Naz Apartments. Police directed citizens to take alternative path to drive their way to their respective destinations.
Massive gridlock is being witnessed on Shahra-e-Faisal road leading to airport.
It should be mentioned here earlier, a police mobile van and six other vehicles were torched earlier after a rampage incident outside a private hospital near National Stadium.

Aameen, I was reading that people at stuck in Dow university, more than 50 vehicles have been burnt and 2 people killed. I have never understood the meaning of burning/damaging public and private properties though.

University of Karachi has cancelled all its examinations secluded for today owing to the rampant violence across the city. According to the spokesman of University, the new dates for the cancelled examinations will be announced later.

Earlier, several arson incidents were reported after the killing of MQM activist. Several vehicles were torched in different areas including Malir Halt, Central Jail, Teen Hatti, Kala Board, Abul Hassan Isphani Road and Shah Faisal Colony.
Tyres were set ablaze at Jamshed Road after riots where unknown men forced the shop owners to close down their business.
Aerial firing was also reported in various areas including Liaqatabad, Malir City, Johar Chowrangi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Korangi.
On the other hand, the coordination committee of MQM has announced mourning over the killing of their party member.
While talking to media after inquiring the condition of injured relatives of the deceased in a hospital, provincial health minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed said that the MQM activist Mansoor Mukhtar, killed in the firing incident, was a sector member.
Dr Sagheer demanded immediate action against the culprits.
Meanwhile, a police van stood outside the private hospital was set ablaze by angry mob. Police after reaching the site of the incident, opened aerial fire and used tear gas to disperse the angry mob.

It may be the revenge for MQM demanding a stop to extortion in the city. They were extorting hundreds of thousands of rupees from EACH shopkeeper. That's a lot of money to lose if extortion stops.

Ahmed Ali placed on ECL: Rehman Malik
Interior Minister Rehman Malik has placed Ahmed Ali on the Exit Control List (ECL). The MQM had accused Ahmed Ali from the Aman Committee of murdering their worker Mansoor Mukhtar.
Speaking to the media outside parliament, Malik said that action would be taken against criminal elements in Karachi.
The Interior Minister added that a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) had been formed which included members of different agencies.
A wave of violence swept through Karachi after an MQM activist was shot dead in the PIB colony area on Tuesday morning.
At least five people have been killed while 38 cars have been burnt across the city.

Boht hi ziada sannata hai... wo jagah jahan gadi 10-20 ki speed si chalti hai, wahan se 80-90 ki speed main gadiyan bhaag rahi hain.. No public transport available. W-11 jo her strike main chalti rehti hai, wo bhi band hai... Hooo ka alam.. Kahin kahin police aur rangers ki gadian khadi hai..
