I personally feel that parties like MQM and ANP (parties based on race or language) should be disbanded. They have taken Karachi hostage, and turned it into a playground for killers, kidnappers, terrorists, and petty criminals.
This city is getting out of control. Even in peacetime, I always find Karachi waiting for something to happen. A few days of peace mean nothing more than a lull before the storm. And unfortunately, there is no leadership in the country at any level that can devise a strategy to make the city peaceful permanently. Will, capacity, planning — nothing seems to be in place to stabilize the city which is sitting on a ticking time bomb.

Banning the parties will result in giving them more authenticity and popularity.
I agree banning is not the solution, as pushing them against the wall will create conditions like fata. I don't really understand the problem though all three stake holders of Karachi mqm, ppp and anp are allies in the center but the killings still continue unabated. This city has suffered so much during the 1990's but it seems no one has learnt anything.
Dr Rahman Malik sb has vowed to bring peace in Karachi in 24 hours, I think he should be nominated for Nobel peace prize now.
Where as anp is calling for an army operation in Karachi, I do not support that call as I think first it would be very bloody and secondly the hands of the military are very full at the moment.
It is not parties who are to blame , it is the mob mentality which is at play . Those folks who create havoc in Karachi get pleasure out of their actions , it is a kind of narcotics for them , they get high from their actions.
They get pleasure from killing and burning property. They are killers and arsonists. They should be shot on sight. That is the only solution.

itni himmat kiss main hai?
they are only too happy to sit back and see the city burn in turmoil.....
the longer the public is caught up in all this the more time they have to steal from the nation......
It may be the revenge for MQM demanding a stop to extortion in the city. They were extorting hundreds of thousands of rupees from EACH shopkeeper. That's a lot of money to lose if extortion stops.
Is everybody catching on to the dirty games that these dirty parties keep playing yet or not ?

The parties are solely and wholly to blame. A few points to note...
1. Police was nowhere in sight, and did not challenge any of the looters or plunderers (Reason being, all police personnel are appointed by the parties, for the parties.
2. The looting and burning was NOT random. It was calculated. In each area/locality, and maximum of 2 buses were burned, and a defined number of places looted.
3. Stress was placed on burning buses, as transport business is primarily run by pathans.
So peace is as elusive in areas as Karachi where children do not go to schools and employment is scarce? It’s a case throughout the country but no other part of Pakistan is as explosive as Karachi. Why?
You mean politicians?
By the way, I thought Karachi needs a political and administrative solution.

I know many people from Karachi who are non pathan transporters. Generalizing again ?
