Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

Given Sachin's recent struggles against England, Australia and Sri lanka, he was most likely to get it against Bangladesh!

Congrats to him

Unbelievable :lajawab:

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

Sad part is almost no one will remember Dravid (A Legend for me) has retired just days ago .....

It'll be only evident once the Situation demands a wall in a Test and PPL will then briefly remember what's gone isn't just "the wall" but a lot more

I almost celebrated when Tendulkar Failed in that ill-fated England tour to reach the milestone coz that would've put Dravids herculian effort next to nil

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

Finally..
a great feat nonetheless. we may never see this record get broken in our lives.

great interview with rameez btw

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

Agreed about Dravid. :teary2: There won’t be another like him. I think this article by Ed Smith on Cricinfo summed it up perfectly:

I am an optimist by nature. I do not think that sport is perpetually declining from some mythical golden age. But sometimes I cannot avoid the sense that a certain type of sportsman is an increasingly endangered species. I have that feeling now, as Dravid declares his innings closed. No longer will he take guard with that familiar hint of politeness, even deference. No longer will he raise his bat to the crowd as if he is genuinely thanking them for their applause - the bat tilted outwards in acknowledgement of the supporters, not just waved frantically in an orgy of personal celebration. No longer will he stand at first slip, concise and precise in his movements - a cricketer first, an athlete second. No longer will the high Dravid back-swing and meticulous footwork link this generation with the great technicians of the past.

It would be nice to argue that no cricketer is irreplaceable, that sport is defined by continuity rather than full stops, that there will soon be another Dravid, another champion cricketer of timeless steel and dignity. But I don’t think there will be. I think Dravid will be remembered as the last in a great tradition of batsmen whose instincts and temperament were perfectly suited to Test match cricket. It is not an exaggeration to say that a whole strand of the game - a rich vein that runs through the game’s poetic heart - departs the scene with India’s greatest ever No. 3. Playing Twenty20 cricket won’t teach anyone to become the next Rahul Dravid.

** In years to come, perhaps too late, we may realise what we have lost: the civility, craft and dignity that Dravid brought to every cricket match in which he played.**

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

Is there going to be a year long national holdiay in india to celebrate this event?

A great achievement. Just goes to prove that he is the best batsmen ever. This record will not be beaten.

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

good man....................now retire!

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

Nope. Only 100 days of holidays.

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

I am not happy. I saw 10 mins of footage of him getting the 100.

I am effing pissed at him slowing down again. SR of less the 80 in BD vs BD. It boggles my mind why this is acceptable to everyone.

I am not happy.

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

This much I’ll give you. :hypo: He’s not the Sachin of old.

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

some harsh comments by indian fans on cricinfo

Bangladesh v India, Asia Cup, Mirpur: Sachin Tendulkar scores his 100th international century | Cricket News | Asia Cup | ESPN Cricinfo

Posted by Al_Bundy1 on (March 16 2012, 14:34 PM GMT) Completely agree with @Dravid_Gravitas - After getting humiliated by the stronger teams, Sachin grabbed the opportunity with both the hands when he came across probably the weakest international team. Even Manoj Tiwary, Pujara, etc can score centuries against this attack. Why not give them a chance? They will be around for World Cup 2015.

Bravo! Congratulations Sachin! Thanks a million to Asia Cup. Exceptional presence of mind from Sachin. Hopefully his slow century doesn’t cost India the match. Bangladesh isn’t a strong team. So hopefully, India will get away with Sachin’s slow batting. This century should also be the starting point for Sachin to start playing normally without hurting the team’s interests. What next? 22 more first class centuries and another quarter decade? Great going Sachin! Bravo!

Posted by indio on (March 16 2012, 14:37 PM GMT) He ‘Was’ a great cricketer. Now he typifies most Indian cricketers who selfishly plod on motivated by personal records. The mumbai tradition continues : ’ Greedy’ Gavaskar, Selfish Shastri (Ravi Shastri) and now Sachin Tendulkar. Actually I see this as a common trait particularly among mumbai cricketers. The fans are also maniacal and sycophantic which contributes to it. Reminds me of a college acquaintance: who used to foolishly state that the bombay Ranji team should be selected to represent India national. These are the types who will even today say that ‘Agit Agarkar’ should be selected in the Indian team. I am relieved only because our foolish media will probably stop talking about him now. Give me a break..

Do indian guppies agree?

:@:

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

and India loses… :omg:

Congrats to Tendulkar for his “personal” milestone :k:

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

The absolute perfect way for Sachin to get his 100th 100. Sums up his career perfectly.

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

Yeah, had he accelerated perfectly down when he went back to first gear, India would have scored 300+ easy. :k: Good player, but selfish to the core. Then again, some say that you have to be selfish to be good. Oh well.

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

Congrats

Re: Tendulkar bags his 100th ton!!!

I totally agree about this game. I’ve been yelling before as well as to why batters shouldnt be slowing down for personal milestones.
